I hate to admit it, but I can tell winter is coming. Once it stops raining for the next few days, it's supposed to drop to the 40's for the next two weeks or so. The weatherwanker (tm) made it sound all optimistic, as if it would warm up after that, but we all know where that goes.

This means A) The Seven is going to be driven slightly less, due to precipitation. Any other day will be a drivable day, temperature be damned. B) I have to put the snow tires on the cars soon. Meh. C) Winter is depressing. The last few winters haven't even snowed much, just been shitty. Noone likes that. Either stay 60, or snow like there's no tomorrow.

Too damn tired. Been working more than I like, and being ran ragged at home. Can't even finish reading the day's Oppo. Obviously something has to change.

Come to California, where winter means wearing pants and shirts with sleeves.

I grew up in rural Michigan and kind of accepted that winter was just part of the program. Once we moved to Florida and missed 5 Pittsburgh winters in a row, I have absolutely zero tolerance for the season. The gray sky, raking leaves, slimy roads, gray sky, tracking mud and salt into the house and cars, changing winter tires, gray sky, all the extra wardrobe items, gray sky, all the extra time spent shoveling and brushing snow, gray sky, crappy blended fuel and finally the gray sky. You know what I hate more than anything, though? The gray sky.

The first winter we spent back here after being in Florida (2010/11), I counted. I counted the number of days in December that I saw sunshine: 3. By my math, that means 90% of the days it was gray. And, even those 3 days weren't Florida type severe clear days...they were probably cloudy at some point in the day.

Some day, my in-laws will be in the ground and we will head south. Say what you want about the humidity, mosquitoes and insanity of Florida, but I will be there. Maybe not year-round, but at least from November through April.

Car related: racing season 2+ months longer down there.

Yea, south Dakota already looked like this last week glad it wasn't us.

Run south fast!

I love Winter. My turbos love the cold, crisp air. And I love the snowy mountain passes on my way to and from my ski hill of choice. I should note we average 300 days of sunshine here in Colorado, so I get my cake and I eat it too.

Come to Puerto Rico, where instead of complaining of cold weather, you can complain of the humid and hot weather combined with a little bit of government funds mismanagement on fixing the island's roads. The potholes are great all year round, specially for 18 and 19inch wheels. It's like whack-a-mole, except you don't want to hit those wheel eating beasts.

Winter is the main reason I bought this:

Kinja'd!!!

I got it for $70, installed it myself over the course of a few days, while still daily driving the car. I like this one because A) I didn't even have keyless entry. B) It works far enough that I can start my car when it's 3 blocks away. C) It has 2-way communication, so the remote beeps when the car successfully locks, unlocks, or starts, and I can press a button on it to confirm if the car was locked or not, in case I forget, and D) by the time I get to my car, the engine is warm, windows defrosted, and the cabin is nice and toasty.

I do have to agree with you about the snow, though. I live in Philly, and with everything that's under the streets, no snow sticks to the road. I'm now working outside of Philly, so we will see how snow goes there this winter...

Yeah, I kinda wish I had one of those, but I always park with the handbrake on and the shifter in gear, so that would never go well.

Yeah, I lived near Ann Arbor for a while... Extreme temperatures (120/-30F), but snow was a rarity, if not just a dusting. A few inches meant a snow day.

I've lived near Cleveland, Ohio since... Which happens to be the armpit of America. Not just the douchebags, but the weather sucks. It sounds a lot like Britain—it rains a lot, or it snows. It's raining now, I've only gotten to drive the Seven to work once this week (Ok, I'll admit I did drive it all last week, and part of the one before that, and MAYBE I'll drive it tomorrow) and now I'm hearing snow Sunday.

I lived with my parents until mid 2000's in Chardon, Ohio... 5 feet of snow was not unheard of. I live about 40 minutes away now, and so far, in the last few years, we haven't had more than 2-3 feet. Now that I've said it, we'll get hammered this winter.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Seven is going to like the cold air. I'll drive it as long as it's not snowing or raining. I hope to have a tablet installed in the dash for the MSIII, and I'd like to log the temperature differences in engine performance.

I'd love to live in Colorado, if it wasn't hijacked by some liberal assholes. The new gun laws there are ridiculous, kudos to Magpul for leaving.

Yeah that law is stupid. Who's to say crims won't just carry more, smaller mags? However, it's a big ass state with plenty of places to shoot where no one will even hear your gun shots, let alone see how big the mag is. An AK with a 30 round clip, even on semi auto, is real fun.

That was the only part that was a pain for me. I had to find a wire for a neutral safety switch so that the unit knew the car wasn't in gear, and another wire that would trick the car into thinking the clutch was depressed. It wouldn't allow the car to start otherwise. I just had to get in the habit of only using the parking brake to park, and leaving it in neutral.

Yeah, I've seen it happen with a friend's jeep. Parking brake was engaged, but it could still start and chug along from a student lot across a field, and into a high school teacher's parked car. The teacher was teaching the jeep owner at the time and they both witnessed the whole thing.
