Ok, so it's what they are calling black chrome and it looks more like an extremely highly polished black or dark grey paint job than normal chrome. I'd want to see it in a few other lighting conditions before passing final judgement, but in this shot it's actually not bad at all.
Edit: More pics!
The wrap was apparently done by !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in Jacksonville Florida, more pics can be found !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

The dark tint gives it depth and mystery, very much unlike a normal chrome wrap which is just a shiny mirror.

A good looking chrome wrap that isn't just 'not bad' but 'bad ass'?
One of the best looking cars this generation doesn't cost a bazillion dollars? It's actually as far from a bazillion dollars as you can get?
They still offer this in manual trim? Today?
This picture makes no sense.

Just a bit of color takes a chrome wrap from 'asshat' to 'gentleman with fine taste'.

I love chrome wraps, so I support this.
That does just look like a very well polished silver paint though, but maybe it's a tinted chrome.
If wrapping a car didn't cost a few grand, I'd get mine wrapped in chrome. Haters gonna hate.

They really did knock it out of the park with the design of the 3rd gen, and I think this is a design that will honestly age quite well. Yes they still offer it in manual in both base and Touring level trims, and rumor has it the same will be true with the diesel options when they release them here at the end of the year, or some time next year, however long it takes them to iron out the issues they were having with it.

That's the thing, I usually can't stand them, but this one looks really good to me! So, it kinda threw me for a loop when I saw it.

Dark Chrome is always a win.
This looks great.

Source or other angles?
I made a post a while ago professing my love for chrome wraps and how it stems from bare aluminum airplanes, but this is definitely more subtle. I just wonder how hard it is to keep clean.

A friend of mine on Facebook posted it. I'll see if I can't find some more shots of it and update the OP with the new pics.

Fuck man, everything in my heart tells me to hate the Mazda 6 but my body...my body keeps telling me yes

The only thing that would make this better would be if he removed the chrome trim around the windows, trunk lid and nose. Making that black would make everything pop better.

better than the audi that looked like a giant spoon driving around...

Oh most definitely! Regular chrome is fine for small trim pieces on modern cars, and for larger trim pieces and bumpers on classic cars, but a full wrap has never been something I liked, as I never felt it has been flattering to the design of any car. This on the other hand is really nice looking.

This is more of the gunmetal shade than an out and out chrome. Heck, the Kia Soul looks pretty good in that colour

Normally not a fan of the "look at me" chrome crap, but this is tasteful and really accentuates the Mazda. Great looking car all around.

Very nice. Chrome aside, that 6 is making sweet love to the camera.

This looks great, surprisingly! And those new Mazda 6's are drool worth in my book. Absolutely love them.

It's a great design to be sure! Mazda did a great job with the 3rd gen after giving us the bloated and aimless flop that was the 2nd gen.

Only this dark chrome can be exempted from my strong dislike of chrome wraps.
