If both the US and Mexico lost, Mexico would fail to qualify for the World Cup. In the 91st minute, both us and the Mexicans were losing. We scored 2 goals to beat Panama, so Mexico advanced to the playoff against New Zealand for the final World Cup spot.

We're already qualified, and if we lost (thus if Panama won), Panama would be level on points, and Panama would have advanced to play NZ.
