In retrospect, I shouldn't be surprised that I'd have to shell out for repairs immediately after buying the Saab. I knew the tires needed replacing; judging by the DOT codes they were at least 14 years old, and judging by the dry-rotting they were well overdue for repair, and a quick spin around the block with the new ones confirmed that this was the right thing to do. What caught me off guard is just how involved replacing the rear transmission mount is. Apparently it's a drivetrain-out job, according to a shop who actually knows what they're doing, and it'll take pretty much a full day. Hopefully this isn't a preview of how things will be. The faded paint and rust spots are already whispering their very expensive song.

I wish we could share the ownership:(. What a cool car! I'll pay for the repairs if I get 50% ownership! Just kidding, I can't drive.
