Men & Motors was the only dedicated motoring channel on UK TV in the 90s. 50% of its output was motoring related and 50% was smut (very soft porn).
Richard Hammond appeared on various programmes on the channel (the motoring stuff obviously), until he was picked up by Top Gear in 2002.
As many readers will have gathered by now many car reviews are slanted by commercial pressures (albeit not Jalopnik's !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! !) whereby the magazine or website often says nice things about a car in order to make sure that manufacturer keeps advertising with the title, or at the very least so they keep getting new cars to test.
I'm not saying Richard was pressurised to be nice about the 1999 Mitsubishi Spacestar but he reckons the interior is pretty good, whilst we can plainly see that it's ghastly. In general I would have slated it on looks alone, whilst the Hamster gives it a positive review.
Whatever, this is quite funny, seeing Richard dressed in boring clothes and talking normally, reviewing a normal car and saying nice things about it. How many journos who do the same thing today and wish they were on Top Gear (or Jalopnik!), wear what they want and say horrid things about horrid cars?

To form an informed opinion, I think we need an example of the other 50%.

Hopefully he'll get to do it again in the next series.
