Ronniesil's post got me thinking about cars with a hatchback that dont look anything like your average 2-box wagony shape. Now, i'm bored so lets everyone post your favorite non-2-box hatches!

Personally i've always loved all of the different body styles on the first gen Mazda6. Though the wagon is beautiful, my favorite is the liftback. It's just so stealthy!

Hyundai also tried their hand at stealth hatchbacks, albeit in a much less attractive package

Mazda 626 hatch. I had one of those in even the same colour. I loved it! It was what the A5 is now, only a decade earlier.

I always considered those to be quite futuristic looking for their time. Weren't they released in 1991 or 1992? That's over two decades ago.

Sounds about right. I had two of the "GE" generation, both in this colour. My first one was a sedan which was a family hand-me-down with over 200K kms when I got it in '99. It was a '92 if I remember correctly.

Due to it's overall roundness it really stood out in the box-shape world of the early 90s. Friends called it the "used bar of soap" and similar things.

Awesome. Did not even know that existed. This is exactly the kind of thing i was hoping people would respond with!

Seriously? that's got a hatch? Learn something new every day!

Side note: Love it. Anything with an enormous, grand canyon sized gap between the base model and the top end performance model is automatically cool.
