So the apartment i just put a rental application in for (what an overly personal questionnaire btdubs) does not have much of a parking lot to speak of... They are working out a "deal" so people can park at a lot down the street for $75 a month... We are talking about Grand Rapids Michigan here, so street parking isn't as a big a deal as it is in say Chicago. But still... I will be in the city. And I would have to entrust my '10 SHO to the streets almost every night (unless I am one of the lucky 9 to get to the apt fast enough to snag a spot).

Any tips tricks hints suggestions on this matter? Should I pay the $75? Or just deal with it?

One of which would be don't leave valuables in plain sight, haha.

This is what happened when I trusted my civic to the streets of Milwaukee... what you cant see is the cracked axle and destroyed suspension.

wise choice. I now pay 125$ a month for heated underground parking. Oddly enough I was on a wait list for it when this happened. a week after this happened I was given a spot.

too little too late

Seriously? I know it's a bit different here to in the States, but it never occurred to me that anyone would be worried about parking on the street. Yes, something might happen. But then if you park in your OSP your neighbour may reverse his truck over your car. I don't see any difference.

Your car is apparently still worth something. If you don't pay for the off-street parking, I'd save the monthly $75 for the inevitable damage repair costs.

Is that a picture of Monroe St? Also, is the Weather Ball still there?

Hmmm, it could be, didn't really pay attention which street I grabbed a pic of.

Not sure of any weather ball except the one along the highway north of town.

It was on top of what was then the Michigan National Bank building (now the Monroe Center Bldg?) on Monroe St and Ionia St.
Jeez, the stuff you remember from so long ago.

haha ok, I'll look out for it.

I am looking at moving to Ionia and Wealthy -ish. The area is getting nicer by the year, there is all kinds of loft apartments being put into old buildings. The one I am looking at used to be a book bindery.

That area used to be all industrial. I should go back there and see it someday.

Yeah, it is insane how fast the downtown and surrounding area is changing. It is really starting to feel like a city more and more.
