Tragically, it appears Britian's Sean Edwards, son of former Formula 1 driver Guy Edwards and sports car racing superstar, has lost his life in a crash at Queensland Raceway earlier today. Above, a video of his unbelievable talent in action. A true "Jump-in-anything" hero of sports car racing, he will be missed.

Rest in Peace. It's always a sad day when someone dies in motorsport.

Unfortunately, it takes tragedies like this to remind us why we look at racing drivers as modern-day gladiators, taming wild beasts for our entertainment and for their own achievement. Often they triumph, and yet occasionally the animal can get the better of them, often with tragic results such as this. While safety has advanced exponentially in the last few decades, racing will never, ever be safe, and it's that danger every driver accepts when he straps himself into the seat, and one I'm sure Mr. Edwards understood. The video only goes to show what unbelievable talent the racing world has lost. Too many have left us in the last few months.

Very sad. :( There's not a good way to say this, but he might have been the lucky one. The driver was also trapped in the car, but was alive as it burned. It took them three hours to get him out. Sad day.

Another tragedy. A prodigiously-talented racer and all-round nice guy. He is irreplaceable. He currently leads the Porsche Supercup championship with 2 races left. It would be great if he could become posthumous champion, but it seems unlikely.

So sad... That track is an affront to Australian Motorsport in terms of safety features, many serious accidents in recent years, not to mention it is the most unimaginative layout ever... Hope they learn something from this before something similar happens again.
