Otherwise? Meh.

Meh, they're a bit spotty.

Yet another example of a company that is very successful making X, and this makes them say, "Well, if we kick ass doing X, surely we can kick equal amounts of ass doing W, Y and Z!"

I specifically meant their motherboards. As far as I can tell, you either get a good one or a terrible one, and there's not really any space in between.

Mine, for instance, woudl randomly have the rear IO ports crap out. Got an EVGA now.

Well, I've been satisfied with the laptop I got from them. Mostly because at the price range, it was the only one that I found that had a 7200 RPM hard drive, rather than a 5400.

The faster HDD seems worth the trade-off then. Personally, I'd hold out for a 'shiba or a ThinkPad.

Have had many ASUS mobos over the years, though. They're the Toyota of motherboards. Bulletproof and hackable, but not very imaginative or innovative and slightly annoying at times.

Yeah, I agree with that. Had an ASUS Mobo in my old rig. Easy to install, never gave me problems.
