Well, I finally got around to putting a little video together. Same mic used as before (Rode Shotgun mic) and shot on the same camera (Canon 5DmkII). I spent half of Saturday in my driveway !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Some scrapes, a few bruises, some WD-40, and more profanity than any good Canadian should utter, and she was in.

Now, for those that haven't see (or heard) the original exhaust, have a gander at the video below.

It's not that the stock Speed3 exhaust is bad, because it really isn't. It does the deed just fine, and truth be told, there isn't much power to be had by replacing the exhaust on a stock tune anyway. It is ugly though, why auto manufactures give you a 5" arch and stick a 3" exhaust tip in it is beyond me. Fill that arch up! The stock exhaust also lacks bulge in the sound department. It chuffs like a sickly harpy with a tinny smokers cough.

The cure for the MS3's diminutive sickly harpy exhaust issues? A nice replacement from Ultimate Racing.

I spent many hours on youtube listening to exhaust clips, reading forum pages, asking you fine folks on OPPO, and contacting aftermarket companies directly. I probably spent 6 months researching and waffling before finally pulling the trigger. My biggest issues were I didn't want much (if any) drone at highway speeds, and the exhaust could not have any logos on the tips. That may sound a bit anal, but so help me god, few things aggravate me more than someone else's logo on my car. It's like meeting a rather stunning member of the opposite sex (or same sex if that's what you like) only to find someone else's name tattooed on them. Now, some people may be cool with that, and if so, more power too you, not my thing.

I was surprised to find that getting an exhaust logo free was rather hard to do. Fortunately John and the fine folks at UR were more than happy to do that for me. They welded up a set for my car logo free at no additional cost. John was even kind enough to call me with updates and to ensure that everything went smoothly. Truly A+ customer service. When I'm ready for my downpipe, I know where I'll be going.

So now that I've jabbered on (and ranted a little bit), here is the video. If you've watched the first, and are now watching this, I think (at least hope) you'll find that the exhaust is much more rumbly in the tumbly. It may not have quite the same burble as say, a STI, but for a direct injection 2.3l I-4, I think it sounds pretty damn good.

Sounds very very nice. Doesn't sound raspy at all, which of course is good thing.

I LOL'd @ the sad trombone in the first vid...

The new pipes sound real good.. Not too obnoxious, and not overly muted. Great choice !

Lol, thanks! I try to inject some humour into posts when I can. And you got it right, it is the Price is Right "lose" sound.

I agree, I think the new pipes strike a good balance. I don't think I'll have a problem living with them on my daily driver.
