At one point I was tinkering with the idea of picking up a late model Ram as my commuter/weekend yard truck. Now that my daily driver connundrum has been solved with 2014 Jetta, I've decided to go the old crusty truck route for the weekend runs to Home Depot, the dump and any number of other places. After much consideration, and despite some of py previous experience, I'm snooping around for a '60s Dodge.

"Why Dodge?" you ask? Fords and GMs from the era are more numerous, but seem to be worth more. A lot more in some cases. My first love would be an International Harvester, but those are hard to come by in my area and at my price point. Dodge on the other hand is just screwy enough while most mechanicals are still available somewhere.

Where do you live? If you're anywhere near farm country you might want to go the flea markets (I know that sounds unpleasant, but hear me out). I live in central Indiana, prime farming country, and the few flea markets I've been to have always had a few farmers selling their tired old farm trucks on the cheap. Most of them aren't driven above 20mph since they spent their life trundling around offroad, and while they're rarely pretty, they're generally in good mechanical condition. Just a thought.

This spring is when I am going to looking in earnest for a mid-sixties F100 for a shop truck. I dig that Dodge, though.

Maybe...

But I had a pretty kick ass yard truck a few years ago. It was ugly, but it ran... except when the charcoal canister failed and my carb ended up filled with granulated charcoal.
