This is how 1970s car movies were made. If you are a car guy you will enjoy this. Watch it for cars, not story line.

If it wasn't for that book and watching the documentary included, I probably wouldn't be familiar with the name Monte Hellman enough to notice it in the Reservoir Dogs credits. Executive Producer :)
I can't think of any references to 2 Lane in Death Proof. There must be at least one...

I liked how true it was to what actually happens when two guys ride in a car for long periods of time. There's no talking, just driving and listening to that sweet engine noise.

Are you kidding? The Storyline is amazing . It's a perfect existential film.
"Those satisfactions are permanent". That line, near the end, is explosive. I would argue that the car scenes are just as good, if not a little worse, than the story, but it makes up for it by the fact that the story revolves around cars and couldn't be told without it.
Awesome film.

For someone who is accustomed to the typical 70's film, yes, the story line was decent.
Kids that were born in the 90's will more than likely find this film an absolute pile of garbage because it doesn't have any of the typical violence, suspense and CGI thrown in every 2 minutes.
I would watch this over Fast and Furious any day.

Emphasis on "Kids" born in the 90s. I was born in the 90s, and so were many of my friends, and both myself and they definitely have an appreciation for films like this. Don't think that just because it's not 'flashy' that young people will ignore the story. There's a difference between people who watch film badly and young people . While a lot of young people do not understand what makes a story good (or most of it doesn't even occur to them) that doesn't mean that there isn't a large portion who do. I wouldn't expect a 12 year old to understand this movie, but I certainly would expect a 16-18 year old to, so I would recommend people to see the story and understand it, whether they're a "kid born in the 90s who will find it a pile of garbage" or some old, bitter, angry man who doesn't care about films at all any more.
That being said, I seriously doubt that the audience of Oppo is full of people who can't appreciate film though, so give them a chance, and maybe encourage them to actually really pay attention to the story instead of saying that the film is only good for the car scenes.
