Mine are Kilometers. Are yours?

If not, you may need to multiplicate up that shit :)

Remind me what you're whippin' around in again?

It's like, a big white panel van with "CANDY" written on the side, right?

How many parking spaces does it take you to park? LOL!

Kidding, of course.

Anything done to your whippy whip?

I take all the spots.

Lights, windshield, stereo, cold air intake, exhaust, replaced the headliner, a few radiators, 4 thermostats, hoses, fuel line, brakes, belts, a/c, swapped the back left door, window regulators in the front doors, valve cover gasket. I think that's all.

Are those kalikams, though? Or are the miles?

And by kalikams, I obviously mean kilometers. I mean, otherwise my speedo goes to 200 Mph.

Yup, 2011 V6. Could tell yours was a first gen. S197 V6 by gauge placement and redline.

I bought it with 60,000 on the clock one year ago.

I was shopping for a new car, 2+2 sports coupe. Drove the 3.7 and loved it. Drove the Genesis and didn't. But it was the BRZ that won my vote. Spent time with both, BRZ and FRS and had more or less settled. Actually, more or less is an understatement. And then I saw this black Mustang.

60k on the clock. Manual trans. Local car, one owner. Ran the fax, did my background check and the car was clean. Super clean. It was hers, and he had his, she drove hers very lightly and had bought it new in 06, or he had for her. I'm only the second owner, and the sticker was 1/3rd what I was about to pay for the BRZ.

My logic was thus; I love Mustangs, so fuck you. No, seriously though my first car was an '88 GT and the only reason I fell for the BRZ over the 3.7 Duratec pony was feel. I wanted the Mustang, but the BRZ just felt right. So, I grabbed up this 06 S197 4.0 with the thought that I'd spend some of the difference bringing it up.

But then the wife and I got pregnant, which is great, and the car went onto the back burner. So, it's got a CAI, axle-back and a few exterior mods but that's about it. In fact, most of the gear for the swap to dual exhaust is sitting in my friends garage. So, that'll probably still happen next summer.

But, long story short, the Mustang won't be in my life for that much longer or at least not as our primary car. Which is good, because I'd still be tied into paying for the BRZ longer and, having said all of that, the wife and I are planning on either a new ATS or a used CTS-V Sportwagon in the next year to two years.

I totally rambled on there.

Great story there. Actually.

Even as car people, in truth, there's no reason to keep the 'Stang as a parent. There are so many more important priorities, and prices will only be cheaper if you ever want to pick up one again.

I've always been into cars, but my father got a '65 Thriftpower six convertible, Caspian Blue, when I was in elementary school. We'd take it to car shows and out to dinner in the summer, but it got no more than 1-2,000K/year. And that's being generous.

When I graduated high school/got my full license, because of the structure of cars in the household, it would have been what I was driving. I loved that car, loved driving that car, but parents put higher priorities on ephemeralities like 'safety', and it had to go.

So it was sold abroad, and they got for me essentially the first 3.7 on the lot for not much more. Auto unfortunately because other family members drive it. No comparison shopping; it was the most practical, best looking (to me), and most powerful at the time. Not to mention cheapest to own/maintain/insure.

I grew up in a city with great transit, go to school in another city with equally great transit. It gets about triple the mileage as the '65, and even if it's not nearly as fun, every trip is still an adventure.

The Mustang might not be a pure breed sports car, but it fits every driving mood and condition for me, though it could handle that 1 or 2 days of freak winter snow better. It might not be around as long as that 365c and P1800; I'm not as crazy as those owners to put millions of miles on it. But, conditions permitting, it's easily a 10-year car for me.

Good luck with your kid!
