Hooked up the 4-cylinder to the ceiling hook and winched it off the chassis. Easy as anything.
Down it goes onto the pallet. I'm wondering whether it'd be worth selling. Not really bothered about how much I get for it, more concerned with not junking a repairable engine when there's a limited supply of them. Pretty certain the head gasket's dead though (radiator was chock full of rad-weld).
Also stripped the front suspension off so it's finally a bare chassis. Next up, is cleaning off the muck of nigh-on 40 years of driving around and searching for rust.
Apologies for the duff picture. It was getting dark and I evidently didn't hold it still enough.

I gave away a tired engine from an MGB rather than scrap it. Could not find anybody to buy it. I could not bring myself to scrap it. Like you said, there are not that many left.

That's not a bad idea actually. The gearbox is good and the carbs are rebuilt so someone should want it.
The other option is to rebuild it as well. That way I could sell it on easily. I think the 1300s might be preferable for racing actually, so that could be an option.

You probably can't see it in those pics, but just to the right is a 2.5l I6 from a Triumph 2500 PI on a stand. Will be going in using a mashup of Spitfire, TR6 and GT6 parts.
I'm aiming for ~170bhp and ~750kg. Should be a right little rocketship once it's finished :)

"Honey, have you seen the car?"
"Check the ceiling."
You have an amazing garage, and good luck with the car.

Thanks :) the garage itself is a work in progress, but it's great to have somewhere away from the rain to work.
