*Ahem* That is an LS engine, you know.

Yes, but not by name.

Neither are Vortec engines, but that doesn't change the fact that they are LS engines (except with iron blocks and heads in all but a few cases).

85k? CP

NA is cool but I'd take a turbo LS7 for less, Bob.

There's a very high probability that I'm rather stupid, but, where on earth do you fit the exhaust on that thing?

Fourth generation small block =/= LS series engine

Pretty sure the LS series are considered to be both the 3rd and the 4th gen small-block on Wikipedia at least (and when GM showed off the LT1 they called it the 5th gen). The production C5 had either an LS1 or LS6 (Z06) and IIRC the C5-R had an enlarged LS (which became the LS7 or something like that, it's been a while since I read about it) so this is an LS in all but perhaps the name.

Crack Pipe. I love this engine and its great and makes great power and all but $85k is crazy. One could build a similar engine for way less than that.

Ahh, that explains it. For some reason the link would not load for me. I think my ISP is cocking things up atm.

Wasn't this engine called LSR or LS6R or something of the sort?

I believe so yeah.

800-900HP out of an N/A 427? Is that thing pushing 10000rpm? Even for race fuel that's really ambitious for (only) 7 liters naturally aspirated.

That was a typo. I meant 700-800, although it's more like 700 realistically

One could not do the R+D to make sure it wins Le Mans for $85k though.

So this engine won LeMans and you are willing to pay extra for that?

No, I'm saying it was designed, built and tested by professionals to win races and that's why it's so expensive. If I had the money for a factory-backed race engine I'd prefer this:

I can believe 700. 800 is possible too, if it's able to keep the revs up, but it's a longer-stroke engine (over 3.5") so I don't see it hitting higher than 8000rpm.
