"duurtlang" (duurtlang)

This is my daily driver. For winter wheels I've bought classic Peugeot 205 GTI wheels. They're structurally sound, but the finish is quite tired as the paint is damaged and there is some corrosion. I want to get them redone. The bonus of getting them redone is that I can choose a color. What color should I pick? The original or some other color?
Peugeot 205 GTI
One of my actual wheels, although they look worse in real life. It's been cleaned, every irregularity you see is damage.

Hands down, one of the best looking Peugeots ever, for me at least. For the colour, original works, doesn't it? White or black as well. Do post a pic with the GTI wheels on, please.

Gunmetal. But nice gunmetal, a richer color and not the one that looks like brake dust.

Original colour, of course.
But, er, are those really cheap and common enough to be used as winter wheels? I'd have guessed a second set of 406 wheels would cost a lot less.

Sparf's Wheel Color Decision Questionnaire:
Is the car Black, British Racing Green or a dark shade of Green that looks similar to BRG?
If the answer is No, get Black wheels goddamnit. If the answer is Yes, you may opt to get Bronze or even Gold wheels (the latter depends on how 80s your car is).

I bought these wheels for €60, which was an absolute steal. 406 coupe wheels are more expensive (in the Netherlands), regular 406 wheels I'm not sure. However, the upside of the 205 wheels is that they're narrower than 406 wheels, which is said to be a plus for winter wheels. 185 width for the 205 GTI, 205 or 215 width for the 406 coupe.

1st choice: Lighter gray (lighter than car)
2nd choice: Dark gray (darker than car)
3rd choice: black/plastidip
4th choice: black with silver lip
This is just how I picture it in my head.

Hmm, not sure if anything really goes with grey, unless you go all GT3 RS and get red ones. Besides, if they're winter wheels they're only going to get covered in crap anyway, right?
If you tried a greyscale colour, I think it would have to match the body or else it wouldn't look right. Black is another option, but on a grey car? I'm not sure if I'd do that, personally.

Getting them for €60 was absolute theft, I think, unless prices are a lot different in The Netherlands(? Germany?). Once refurbed, they ought to go for €300-400 per set.
€60 is about what a set of winter wheels should cost in my mind as well, but although you got them cheap, they're worth more. Hence a bit too nice for what you plan. Sell them at a profit, then buy some other wheels and some nice winter tyres with the cash...

That and the original color were the colors I was considering before. I like the darker color, but I'm not sure it fits with the color of my car.

Can't you try it on somehow, e.g. spray paint a piece of foil in a similiar color and tape it on there to get the idea? I'd say it fits ...
