So this pulled up next to me the other day, pretty sexy in-person. I gotta wonder how low the value of a Fisker can drop though. I mean they started out around 90k and now they're around the mid 50's (lowest I've seen was $52,500).

Think I'll hold out till they hit the low 30's.

Out of the blue I got an email from my dad a while back. He saw a Karma in a dealership, nice shade of brown, his-if-he-wanted-it. (No orders)

He wanted to know if it was worth it, so I did some research on it, and here's where I ended up:

Pros:

It's Pretty

It has pretty decent performance for its weight

Cons:

The range on electric power is fairly low. Like 70 miles or so

Once you've got the generator going, the mileage is pretty poor. Worse than quite a few competing cars in this segment

It's very expensive for the amount of "car" you get.

Justin Bieber has one

I dearly want to take that chassis and body and slap in a modern 426 Hemi.

Or some 5" bore monster .

They aren't technically dead yet, although odds of them building another car are paying off at 10,000 to 1.

Cons: no more parts/manufacturer support.

I think that's going to be a dealbreaker on the Karma. Sure it runs a GM engine (if I remember correctly?) and I'm not sure what the chassis is based off of, but I can't imagine finding replacement parts/getting anything serviced will be easy or cheap. Just wait till those battery packs go out. Who in the world will have the parts and knowledge to replace them?

Well, it is now, but arguably if not for the other cons, it wouldn't be a problem.

Thought about it, but formating with the bullets is annoying.

YES! You have to do this!

You'd need to pick up a top fuel/superstock V8, or custom-fabricate your own block. But damn would it be awesome.

Don't lie, if you had the money you would do that.

I totally would. Some 550ci + 5" bore superstock Hemi converted for street gas.

I think the Fisker is absolutely beautiful, more so than the Tesla Model S (but the Model S is a better car) and it deserves a smooth, but extremely powerful V8 in the spirit of all great American sedans.

Buy several Fiskers if they are cheap enough, get a good saw zaw and more than triple your money, now they are orphaned.

Years later, the only Fiskers around will have V8 swaps because nobody can do maintenance on the batteries and electric motor.
