lololololololololololol
Car needs struts, and with 205k on it I'm gonna do quick struts to get all new shit, but 4cyl parts are $50 cheaper EACH than V6 stuff. Only difference seems to be springs.
So, do I take the chance to lower the car slightly and MAYBE get a... I dunno, softer ride? (4cyl springs are likely softer for the lighter engine, not sure why the rears are different, but a V6 Solara uses 4cyl springs in the rear... huh?)
I like being cheap, plus they're buy 3 get one free (Monroe) until end of the month.
I'm waiting for an answer from toyotanation.com
I hope someone's done it before.

I would say no. Unless you like to pretend your car is a low rider with switches when you hit a speed bump.

I doubt it would lower it more than say, a half inch. It rides pretty high as it is right now, and thats on worn ass 200k+ mile springs.

If the only difference is spring rate and shock damping rate, it will probably just be a barely lower, softer ride. Any chance the V6 model would have any significant differences though - different knuckles to support larger brakes, etc? I can't imagine they would actually have different strut mounts and things like that.

LOL I haven't been on toyotanation in a long time....
Just buy v6 struts and some separate lowering springs...
Take it from another Camry owner, if you do this, it'll be so grounded to the ground that you will be underground. UNDERGROUNDED TO THE GROUND.

Nah. The struts themselves are the same. Just different springs. And prices.

Trying to do it as cheaply as possible, without ordering junkyard stuff.
Planning on keeping this thing awhile I guess. Got a rust bubble to fix too. Shit.

True true, I just saw your post on Toyota Nation a few minutes ago...
I'm sure the struts would work, the only thing I'd be questioning is the longevity with the extra weight moving around ontop of them... I'm talking the fronts of course, the i4 and v6 rear struts probably have virtually no difference in weight that they have to handle, so they're definitely interchangeable.
