Angelinos cannot drive in the rain. This is a well documented fact. If you value your car, stay out of Southern California when it's raining.

I'm glad I didn't drive today...I was on my way to NY. The sad thing is all the idiots that can't drive in the rain will lie to their insurance companies and the people they hit will have to pay for their own cars. The only thing worse than bad drivers is liars.

Last december my Focus got totaled because some dumb bitch decided to stop in the middle lane because the fucking sherriffs department was holding a stupid fucking DUI checkpoint. I was the 4th car involved and the real kicker is I was driving nice and calm, only going about 30-35 and left more than 5 car lengths in front of me. I see the brake lights in front of me, and think "oh just slowing O.K." The stupid fucking Jeep didn't have a 3rd brake light and I couldn't see his main lights so I didn't realize they were crashing until I saw the Solara nose dive and it was then that my brakes locked up. I learned a valuable lesson, good brake pads and shitty tires are not a good combination in the rain.

It was a time when I was actually driving calm and relaxed because I was on my way to my favorite hill to blast up in the rain with the front tires just spinning and power pushing the nose around. (Hey, its the most fun you can have in a FWD econobox. . .)

I actually like driving in the rain, I just don't like the other people that are on the roads. I guess this rainy season I get to see how NorCal drivers are, I finally broke out of the SoCal bubble. . .

I just moved to southern california, and people here warned me to stay off the roads for the first rainstorm. Partly because it's the equivalent of the first snowfall anywhere north. But it's also because for the months and months with no rain here, there's nothing to wash away the accumulated drips of oil and whatnot on the road, so when it rains the first time, it's especially slick. I remembered that from my two-wheels-alright days, when they said if you're gonna ride in the rain, wait out the first 30 minutes for the same reason.

Edit: Oh, the news article mentions that oily slick road part, nevermind.

Agree with above. Plus summer tires, no wet driving experience, and socal attentiveness.

Very wrong, they can an do drive in the rain.

They just have trouble cornering and stopping in the rain.....
