I'd rather an LP640 or LP670.

I would buy a Murcialago SV for that money! I'm not a fan of the Aventador.

Agreed! I respect the Aventador and its flame goodness, but I'd rather an LP640 or LP670.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Way too much money. Even if I had the money I wouldn't do it. I'd buy a used Carrera GT and then use the savings to get a used Gallardo. Then I could have an angular Lambo and my favorite Porsche.

There was a green SV spec several months for sale in Houston for damn near $1 million.

It's on my (very) short list of supercars I would gladly pay top dollar for if I had the money. The McLaren F1 also occupies that list, and pretty much nothing else.

Yes, but not that one. I think I could have 2 LP550-2 Balbonis for that.

I wouldn't actually. I'd much rather have...

That equals to 26.44 V6 Mustangs, so no I would not.

I wish I had enough cash to buy cars as investments. I really feel that certain classic Lamborghini models are the next classic cars to see super high appreciation. Lots of classic Ferrari prices have gone nuts. Really rich people buy rare classic Italian sports cars like they buy rare paintings. There are more and more billionaires each year. Once the classic Ferraris are so expensive that even billionaires don't want to buy them they will turn to classic Lambos.
It makes sense for the Miura to keep appreciating. It's the grand daddy of all mid engine supercars. And the first generation of the Countach should go up a lot too as the production numbers were pretty low.
The Miura set the technical design mold for supercars and the Countach set the aesthetic design mold.

Nope, I could have a sweet garage filled with a KPGC110 with a RB26 in it, a 996 turbo, and a Viper ACR. I don't think I'd ever buy an exotic if I had the money to buy and maintain it. If I ever were to hypothetical Lambo, a Murcielago SV would be on the short list.

ew, that is the specific model of Murcielago I despise. The minor facelift it got in 06, 07, I much rather prefer.

Those are all much better alternatives, although I must say I'd pass on the Gallardos.

And if I was going to get just one car I'd hunt hard and see if I could get a used Zonda for that price.
Regarding your desire for a 996 Turbo - the cool thing is that is becoming cheaper and cheaper by the day. I read a cool magazine article about a 996 TT project. There is a lot that you can do to improve that car.

Yup, highish mileage examples are in the low 30's now and good examples are only in the 50's.

That is awesome that the higher mileage ones can be had in the 30s. If I was going to make a project car out of it I'd get the cheapest and highest milage one out there. Would be nice to have the engine strengthened while having it rebuilt. Then once it's done it could run more boost :)

Tt's though. 1200hp sounds better than a special aventador, even if it is the lesser model. And then there is that tt sv...
![]() 10/11/2013 at 00:18 |

Yeah, I'd rather the TT SV than the TT Gallardos. Although the TT SV is just pure waste of a perfect and limited edition Murcielago. The Murcielago hasn't been whored out like the Gallardo and it's a bit disappointing.

That's lots of $$$$$ there. You have to worry about the 2 main failure modes of that motor, can't remember them right now. But it can be worth it as long as it has an extensive service history. The 996's are basically the lowest rung of the 911's, people just don't like them so they tend to not retain their value as much as the 997 will.

Yeah it would definitely not be cheap. Just an interesting project idea since as you said the 996 models lost so much value. Even if you spent $40K on upgrading and modifying the car you'd still be well under a new 991 Carrera S, and you'd totally smoke it. Sharkwerks has some interesting upgrades for the 996 TT.
