They say that driving a car in Alaska is like owning an Italian car in any other part of the country. Metal parts will rust immediately and for every twelve months of ownership you can only drive it for six. The only thing more prevalent than rusting car casses in last frontier state of Alaska is freshly slaughtered caribou, so why not combine those two into one single craigslist ad?

Find this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! with free caribou meat for sale in Anchorage, AK for $850 via craigslist. Tip from ANCMatt.

The Econoline E350 Van is a triple-purpose hauler for junk, people, or dead animals with a body-on-frame chassis and big V8 up front. The third generation was built from 1975-1991 with small incremental changes from year-to-year but mostly using the same commercial strength formula. This one has a carburetor equipped 351 cubic inch Windsor V8 mated to an automatic gearbox for easy cruising.

Rangifer tarandus is a ruminant quadruped mammal known by it's common names as reindeer or caribou. Known for its lean meat and hunted frequently in northern locals, the caribou can taste gamey, but it often depends on the diet of that particular animal. With the two rear rows of seats removed you could easily fit several hundred pounds of caribou meat in the back of this E350.

So, I currently and for the next year and a half or so live in Anchorage. This is one of the more bad-looking cars. It's very true that anything older than 6 or 7 years old is starting to rust and has body damage from at least one accident but at the same time, there are a lot of people who take car of there cars up here. And speaking of Italian rusty cars, there's a music shop that owns a yellow F430 (which isn't rusted in the slightest) and they drive it every day during the 2 months of summer we get. There's also a guy up here that has a GTR with about a 2 inch lift and truck mud/snow tires on it. Dude daily drives all year. There's a few car nuts up here and that makes me happy. Every now and then you can stumble upon an impromptu classic car show. 90% of them are immaculate. I should really get some pictures of the cars up here and do a "Cars of The Last Frontier" segment.

It makes me happy that someone put AT's on a GTR.

I had some family who lived in Alaska back in the day and they always reported on car issues, but I guess it gets too cold to salt, so you just put some BFGs on your GTR and have at it. No need to worry about overheating, I guess.

Perhaps this rusty Van is a recent import from PA?

The reason they can't salt the roads is because of the moose. They'll just sit there and lick the roads for hours to get the salt. They use gravel and dirt but that really doesn't do anything.

You don't even know how bad I want to meet them, befriend them, and then steal their car. Ever since I saw the Defiance Charger, I've wanted to off road both the Charger and the GTR. Good thing, in Forza Horizon, I can put a rally suspension and off road tires onto the GTR (it's quite capable too...you know...in the game world).

Makes sense, especially in the game world it reads AWD + off road tires = invincible. Nothing else matters lol

I thought they only salt in climates where the 12 additional degrees F you get from the salt lowering the melting point would make a difference. If it is 40 below outside you can throw all the salt at ice you want and it'll still be ice. The sand/gravel is just there to give you some traction on top of the ice and help keep your car dirty. But the stupid moose licking the ground is a better visual!!

No shit, I've seen the moose licking the ground. Hell, yesterday I went to get in the truck and had to call my supervisor to tell him I'd be late because there were moose eating off the trees right next to my truck! As for the salt temperature thing, I've never heard of that. It's illegal to feed or attract wildlife with food here so that's why we were told no salt.

This is true. So long as you have 4 wheels powered, there's no way you can lose traction. Right? Ha ha.

I'm not a chemist, but I play one on TV! There is a really cool simulation you can play with on this website where you add solute and watch molecules do fun stuff. Looks like a bee-hive...but it is chemistry.

hahahahaha fantastic.

Glad I could be an inspiration. I never change mine, though I suppose I don't really need the 562. I put 562 at the end of everything though. It's my favorite number.

Haha, the 562 in mine goes waaaaay back for me. Not many people have a favorite number in the triple digits.

The first season of the show survivor (you know, when people still watched it), at the end they said to pick a number between 1 and 1000 because she couldnt decide on who to vote for, whoever got closest got her vote.

I picked 562, the number was 563, i figure if i was that close it's a pretty lucky number. and you'd be surprised how many things it pops up in for me (including at the end of my license number). It's uncanny.

I only use MontegoMan on this website though.

Damn! I don't really think of it as a lucky number, I've just always 224 when I needed to add numbers. Honestly never noticed the whole 2+2=4 thing until relatively recently (which is embarrassing to say the least). Just pulled that number out of my ass one day.

I grew up Christian and I've always had an interest in other religions and what/who they worship. Osiris was the Egyptian god of the underworld.

Oh interesting. I grew up Christian (Catholic) as well and have studied lots of religions, though I must say I didn't study Egyptian religion as much as I probably should have.

I wouldn't say I've studied them. I just did more of a quick Wiki search type thing. I probably should start studying them. Usually you find a lot of really cool reasons behind the religions and why/how they started.

Yes you do! I think it's good to be knowledgeable, at least to see where people are coming from. I've looked into Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Shintoism. Basically the big ones. I've also of course looked into the ancient greek and roman gods, though somehow I've apparently missed the egpytian ones.

I always liked Egypt as a culture and just decided to look into their Deity structure a little. It's a lot like Roman and Greek what with the multiple gods for everything but they did it a bit more...extravagantly. They would meld human with animal. Which is why you see the more famous one, Anubis. The human body with a dog head. But that also had Horus which was a hawk head with human body. They also worshiped cats to the point that they were terrified of them.
