and she still can't drive.

Authorities in northern Virginia say Jacqueline Badger Mars, an owner of candy company Mars Inc., was driving an SUV that was involved in a fatal crash.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says Mars, who turns 74 Thursday, was driving a Porsche SUV in Aldie on Friday when it crossed the center line and hit a minivan. The sheriff's office says 86-year-old minivan passenger Irene Ellisor of Huntsville, Texas, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

A Mars spokesman says the tragedy has left Mars "filled with sorrow for the loss of life" and the injured. Mars is the company founder's daughter and has been ranked by Forbes Magazine as the world's seventh richest woman.

The Commonwealth's Attorney is reviewing the matter.

Yeah, at 86 I don't think I would have bothered with a seat belt either.

I'm surprised that a woman of such immense wealth would ever drive herself anywhere.

Also I have to remind myself sometimes, that just because people have nice cars. They don't necessarily know how to drive them at all.

"...86-year-old minivan passenger..."

What did she expect, riding in an 86 year-old minivan? HOW DID SHE EVEN GET ONE!?

Sounds a lot like the old lady at the Michigan Secretary of State last month with me. (We treat the SOS office like the DMV).

It took her over 5 minutes to shakingly walk 25 feet from her seat (which she needed help out of) to the counter with a walker to renew her drivers license. She failed the eye test. 3 times. The person at the counter held one up on the wall as she was having trouble holding the button down with her forehead to turn it on. She failed that too.

She, THANK GOD, was sent away with a form for an eye doc to fill out if he felt she was fit to drive.

I was so worried she was about to get a license. If you are as rich as the woman in this article - hire a damn driver.
