Not totally CP, but a lot of miles on that little engine. If there's no rust, it's straight and you have time it would be a decent project. 3 doors!
I wanted an E30 as my first car. I still want.

NP, car is visibly straight and I'm sure he'd take $2k, which is basically "why not" territory.

Not sure what the base price is wherever you are, but coupes with leather are generally worth a bit extra.
You'll want to do something about the wheels, and expect to need a suspension overhaul, new bearings, and so-on. The handling will be better with a wheel that's closer to stock.
Oh, and check if it's the power steering hoses - unlikely, easy to change - or the hydraulic pipes running across the steering rack - more likely, and a bit of a bitch to change. Despite what people say, you can't really drive the car without power steering; the manual rack is much lighter.
All in all, sounds like there's a fair bit of work needed, although most of the bits and pieces needed are reasonably inexpensive. Correct wheels are probably cheaper on ebay than what you'd get for the ones on there now, but a new set of BMW-quality tyres can be pricey in comparison to the cost of the car.

Not too far away from market. Guy has it posted on r3v as well - he's looking to get into an E24.

Expect some work. That sounds like it has something lurking under the surface.

Well, since they don't sound too desperate to sell it, and seem generally knowledgeable about it, not to mention can accept running it without power steering, it's decent.
