The river current is immense. Your winch would drag everything along within minutes.

There's no need to be afraid. Everyone's been doing this for ages, the accidents we've heard are of those where paths are cut smaller due to land-sliding and other natural phenomenons, not this. But also, don't let them blame your luck though when crossing these.
