There is a bill in the NJ legislature that wants to lift the ban on car sales on Sunday. NJ Dealerships are opposed to it saying "Sunday sales create an additional day of expense to run the dealership." But just because a bill says you CAN be open on Sunday, doesn't mean you HAVE to be open on Sunday. Now I realize that any dealership not open all weekend is at a competitive disadvantage, but I since most folks purchase their vehicles during the weekend the increase in potential sales would more than likely offset the increase in operation costs.
So fellow Jalops, would you buy a car or at least go for a test-drive on Sunday?

No I wouldn't. Aside from grocery type shopping I don't typically do any type of shopping on a Sunday.

I don't think sales would increase, just shift through the week. A car purchase is a big enough expense to be known about before hand; no impulse buying (for most of us).

Hell yes I would! It's my only day off! I'm trying to decide between a transit connect or a nv200 for my company, but I can't because the dealers are closed when I have free time!

Would think it would make more sense to be open on Sunday, but closed on Monday or Tuesday simply because people have more free time on Sunday than during the work week.
BTW, same argument was used against Sunday alcohol sales here in MN.

I probably would. A lot of people only have the weekends to dedicate to this type of purchasing. Whether or not a dealership is open on Sunday should be their own choice; there's no reason for the government to regulate that type of action.
I sold cars in a state that allowed Sunday sales and honestly it was one of my better selling days. People weren't in a hurry; they would take more time to digest information and make an informed purchase. I liked my Sunday sales.

Yeah I would, it drives me insane that dealerships close on sundays (out here in Michigan too).
The weekend is the best time to sell cars and they have hte least amount of hours. People that can afford cars don't have time to spend 3-4 hours at a dealer on a weekday, they are at WORK. You know that thing required to be able to afford a car?
How about you close your sales department on a Tuesday or Wednesday to make up for it.

Normally I'd say yes just because I saw them everywhere in london and that way i can pretend to be a cockney idiot criminal like in a guy ritchie movie (this is why i never tell anyone my thoughts) but the NV200 has such a low loading platform and that would be fucking incredible and make shit easy as hell.
Edit: Plus the nissan starts around $19-20k vs the transit's $22-23k

Sure, why not? I don't see any reason why I wouldn't. I can imagine smaller businesses wanting to be closed on certain days of the week (because life/family), but you should be able to choose. Both as an business owner and as a consumer. Why not close on, for example, a Tuesday instead?

I'm not against it, however, most banks aren't open on Sunday's and financing would be a bitch as a result. At least that is the way it is in the south where I am. Again, not against it, just think it might be a bit impractical. Also, I am generally lazy on Sundays. So there's that.

I can't imagine the NV200 has a drastically lower loading platform does it? They are both what I would refer to as "micro-vans". I call them that as they are smaller than mini-vans lol.
Looks (in this random internet picture that at least shows the wrong model year transit connect) as if it's only a couple inches:
More importantly you can avoid having Jay Leno's chin on the front of your micro-van:

Yes! In fact, I helped my fiancee buy a car... on a sunday. We're both engineering students, both work 5 days a week and have extra classes on saturday. So, when she had enough money, a house with a parking spot and financial stability to get herself a car, there was one little detail that kept her from getting one: Spare time to go to dealers and look for a car.

Fair point. Would be a lot easier to do if you had all day....SUNDAY to jump between ford and nissan dealers, wouldn't it?!?!?!
(Just bringing it back around... lol)

I always wondered why no dealerships are open on Sunday. The dealers are always so busy on saturday it can be quite frustrating. To think they wouldnt be able to justify being open on Sunday, even with limited hours (like 12-6 or something), is just ridiculous.

Why yes, SUNDAY would be a good DAY to cross- SHOP vans at DEALERSHIPS in NEW JERSEY . (that should do it.)

The car I drive now was bought on a Sunday. It was the last Sunday in March, which also happened to be an Easter Sunday. I was the only one on the lot for 6 hours. I never would have gotten the deal I got if I didn't go to the dealership on a Sunday.
