Surprise surprise it was for a rally. I went up to crew for Rallye Perce Neige in Maniwaki, Quebec. The rally took place on February 1 in a town closer to the North Pole than it is to the equator. As a result the weekend high was 9°F and the temperature as more often below 0°F than it was above, with a low of -15°F. My routine for the rally was "service car, walk two blocks to Tim Horton's (I love you, Tim Horton's!), buy hot chocolate with my awkward Frenglish, surf wi-fi, return to service park, service car, repeat." T'were cold and I ended up with mild frostbite to my hands after a faulty cap on a fuel can resulted in my gloves being soaked with near-zero degree (F) gas, but still a fun weekend. I ran around the hockey rink-esque service park in a T-shirt a few times (before the gas incident), which even the Canadians thought was crazy. Only fell on the ice twice. In addition to tasty hot cocoa Tim's makes a delicious breakfast sammich. I just wish I'd known enough French to realize the donut was sour cream before I'd ordered it. Oops.
Added bonus of the rally, the final stage was in the city and included cars racing across a very narrow pedestrian bridge, just to cement the insanity of it all.

Does that still go on? I am curious because I live in that area. Last year, we had a day where the high temperature was -15F. Goddamn it, winter, you cold!

Yep, it's an annual event with a lot of history, always takes place around the last weekend of January/first weekend of February. The temperatures were that low the weekend before the rally. I remember checking the weather and being concerned it would be that cold when I was there
