Still feeling fairly volcanicafter the badge buggery, but these help. $200 (plus $100 to ship from San Francisco via Greyhound). No, they aren't in amazing shape, but for another hundred or so I should be able to patch the bolster and restitch the split seam in the driver's seat. Seriously, I couldn't find any mesh heads for a price anywhere close. This guy was parting out a car for LeMons so I'm good for interior bits.

Do you know were I can find a pair of recaro's for a 4000Q? My broken back would love them, as it only likes the stock seats.

You can have the old-style Recaros I just removed...

Otherwise I think scanning BB's for the cars that had them.

Unfortunately they look worse than what we have. Do you know which cars had recaro's that will fit the 4000Q?

Not a clue, sorry. I think these Recaros were specific to Alfas, or maybe FIAT. They do have a really cool wooden headrest extender. Otherwise, yeah - they're shot. I'm hoping someone with a restoration GTV will want them. Otherwise, I'll probably just ending up disassembling and parting them out.

You said GTV? I have a friend in Michigan who has one.

At one point there were a number of cars that took Recaros with minimal instal kits. Unfortunately, I have not found a pair for 4000q. While the seats on our 87 appear to have been designed like the recaros, actual recaros from later audis don't fit it.

Yeah, the rails are the same dimensions from the GTV through the GTV6. I think even the Milano's seats are compatible.

The mesh-head Recaro was the go-to sport seat during the early 80s. I'm sure there's a list somewhere of every car that had them available. Fox body Mustangs, T/A's, some Porsches (924 and 944, I think), e30's, GTI's and some Sciroccos, etc. Somebody somewhere must've adapted them to an Audi 4000 SOMETIME, SOMEWHERE in the world. And as I said before, I was looking EVERYWHERE for about 2 years before I literally stumbled into these. Good luck!

They made recaro kits for many cars, and some had the option of recaro seats. The catch is the ones that had the option for recaro seats, do not take the common aftermarket recaros as they had to fit the floor pan. Fast forward, and either their seats are very common, or not an option due to crash testing. Check with the Alfa clubs in the U.K. and see if you can find the part you need for the drivers side, as it is their passenger side. For the 4000q, I am told only the quattro 4000 seats will fit, but a few had recaro. One last note, your interior looks a lot like my audi's.
