The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta kicked off Saturday morning. 500 balloons took to the sky each morning for 10 days. The highest count was several years ago with 750 balloons. They found that it was too many. So now it is limited to 500-550. A couple photos for your Monday.

If you see a bright pink balloon with a zebra with blue eyes floating by, I went to grade/middle/high school with one of the pilots (father and son). Good people. /relevance

Nope, NC via Illinois. I've seen him post some mass ascent photos on facebook since they were out that way though.

Saw many of these in Louisiana a couple weekends ago. It's a surprisingly fun outing, and a pretty good date if you want to take someone out... also, it's eminently Instagrammable.

It is always fun. I usually crew for a friend but he is out of town all week. So this year I get to be a spectator.
