Was wondering if anyone would notice that. I don't use them often, but it's too hot here for straight whiskey and would dare water this golden elixir down with ice.

Laphroaig was how I was introduced to scotch. I was ruined forever... Its like drinking smoke...

If you want to reeaalllyyy splurge. Lagavulin.

For 'everyday' - one of the Bowmores - actually very well balanced and less smoky overall.

Edit: ah - 18 - yes, a splurge indeed.

Thank you. I put in the bamboo counter tops a few years ago with my dad, they are great. They have held up to my beatings and all you have to do is tung oil them every year or so.

Unfortunately it's all getting ripped out soon to make way for a new kitchen and most importantly a new garage. Maybe I'll re-use those counters in my garage for a work bench if we don't end up reusing them in the kitchen.

I was debating at the store today between the laphroaig and a lagavulin. I've loved all the other laphroaigs I've had (10yr, quarter cask) so I went with this one. Next time I'll get the lagavulin, it's really a win/win, couldn't have made a bad choice between those two.

I love the smokey, peaty taste of the Islay whiskeys so laphroaig is one of my favorites. Would love to visit there someday.

If I was allowed to drink only one alcohol it would be Laphroig, the nectar of the gods.

If you're on a budget though there's an peated Irish whiskey called Connemara that's almost as good as Laphroig 10 year at about half the price. http://cocktails.about.com/od/whiskeyrevi…

I like you way you're thinking. Bacon and Scotch, can't go wrong with that combo.
