You bet it can. I had hopes for this beer...I love proper Guinness but this stuff didn't taste bad...it just didn't have much taste at all.

I'm not that surprised. I didn't have high hopes for it, myself.
Still, base Guinness and Extra Stout will do me fine.

Felt the same way about their Red Harvest. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't good either, it was just kind of there.

There are a number of stouts I like, but it's hit and miss whether a batch of Guinness I get is to my taste or not. I think I need to make sure to get it a little fresher.
That being said, Black Lager is milder, but I kind of like what little flavor it does have.

Best way to describe this is "a great alternative to Guinness on a hot day." I prefer Foreign Extra or Draught almost all the time, but this is a workable alternative when I do not require an overwhelming amount of flavor (like when you just want something refreshing).
My annoyance with craft beers is that so many work only on the "fuck your taste buds, this is going to be a ride" mentality...sometimes you just need something a bit lighter but which isn't water.

Yes. So much yes.
Guinness is awesome.
But Guinness Black Lager just tastes like watered down carbonated bitter. Its not good. I gave it a shot, and eff it.
