I booked my race tickets and hotel this week! I'm so excited I'm going to explode in a massive fireball!

First time? I've gone to every one and have to miss it for the first time this year. I'm bummed. Some tips:
- Thursday night practice is awesome
- The Autograph session is awesome
- Johnny OConnel typically has a charity auction Friday evening. Great chance to get some cool stuff. I got a couple of race team T shirts, hats and a piston from the GT1 Corvettes. Good stuff.
- Bring comfortable shoes and walk around the track on race day.
- Ear plugs and sunblock
- beg, barrow or steal a frequency scanner. The Racing Radios trailer down by the tech area will have frequency lists on race day.
- do the grid walk before the race.
- hanging out by the tech inspection tent after the race is a great way to get dirty race car pics. The podium area is also a lot of fun.
- my strategy for the race: outside of turn 1 for the start, then over to the outside of the final turn for a bit to see the cars coming down the hill, over to turn 10 terraces for a couple of hours and then to the back hairpin stopping along the way to enjoy the view. An hour or so there and the off to the Esses for a couple of hours. There is a jumbortron there. A couple of hours there and then walking along the esses and to the vendor area. By then it is dinner time. Get some grub and back to turn 10 as the sun goes down. With about an hour left I head to the pits for the end.
- The support paddock is also a lot of fun on the run up to the big race. Some cool cars over there too.
- If you make it into Atlanta and are looking for food I very much recommend Brickstore Pub, Fat Matt's Rib Shack, The Vortex, Bone Garden

Man that's a heck of a streak to bust! We did it last year and it was the coolest event I've ever been to. We kind of just wandered around the track the whole day since we didn't have a basecamp but this year we got a pass for our car so we will have somewhere to chill and store food or whatever. We never did make it to the turn 1 or front straight area somehow though...so I do plan to be there at the start of the race. Thanks for the pro tips! I'm definitely going to get use out of a few of them!
