I was browsing some kind of laptop for my little nephew, and because i'm on a tight budget, i was thinking of some kind of Acer laptop. And for god sake, they numbering letter is stupid as fuck. I mean, what the heck is an Acer Aspire E1-451G-84504G50Mn? Or the Acer Aspire P3-171-5333Y2G12Ass?

Second hand ThinkPad. Built incredibly tough so second hand is reliable and more than powerful for anything he should need. Pros: good specs, reliable, cheap Cons: it's a bit bulky.

Well, i think i'll give him a Lenovo Thinkpad M490.
A bargain thinkpad in here. 500bucks for i5 haswell+1TB HDD+Nvidia GT710. And because he only use it for small, day-to-day task and FIFA 14, i think that's perfect.

Absolutely, when I did I.T. support the Thinkpad was my favorite pc laptop. All a good used one might need is a hard drive, and on most they are easy to replace.
