Kinja'd!!!

I was inspired during my lunchtime trip to the supermarket today - normally I just make do with a mundane sandwich, but today I heard a calling to do something truly special for lunch. The root of this was my spying fresh pretzel rolls in the bakery section; this got me thinking "How could I possibly tap the full potential of this?" I have no issues with my usual sesame roll, but the prospect of a sandwich built around a pretzel roll was too good to pass up.

A quarter pound of fresh roast beef provided the base to build upon. Next, a hearty slice of mild swiss cheese with Gulden's mustard supplied the tangyness (Is that even a word? Dunno..) A fresh tomato gave its life so that I could have two thick slices, in a top & bottom orientation, providing both color and lycopene for my 40-something aging eyes. In sum, a simple recipe, but the finished result was so damn tasty it moved me to verse.

Requisite automotive tie-in: I'm driving a 2013 6M Passat TDI for a review this week. The third pedal honestly makes the car feel more zippy than my '12 Passat TDI with DSG. Honestly didn't see that coming.

Your sandwich looks really good. All I had was a double cheeseburger. It was fairly blah, with a side of greesy tiresom.

I haven't bought one yet, but I see them in the bakery all the time.

They reminded me of those huge soft pretzels sold in NYC by vendors. That triggered this whole "build a sandwich" sequence today..

DO IT! They are seriously good. nice and chewy stands up to lots of meat and cheese and sauce. They have a nice mild pretzel taste.

It was. I hope these pretzel rolls aren't just for a limited time. Going back to a plain old sesame roll would be a huge letdown after today.

Yes you are right! Now I want a pretzel roll and fill it with nacho cheese.

Switch the roast beef for ham and toss in some beer cheese on top of it all and you have yourself a kick ass sammich.

Next time you want to punish your arteries with fast food, get the Wendys pretzel bacon cheeseburger. It's another good use of pretzel buns.

The closest Wendy's is nearly 30 min away, but that sounds awesome. Because bacon.

I'm thinking Monday's lunch will be a ham & swiss (maybe cheddar?) but honestly I think just about anything will taste good on a pretzel roll.

Today I left my office on foot and walked up Waller Street to East 6th. O the way I saw a new FIAT 500 Abart parking and gave the driver a knowing, appreciative nod.

Then I went to Way South Philly and had a cheesesteak and tots. An Amoroso roll with real chopped and griddled steak, grilled onions, mushrooms extra, and da Wiz. A Mexican Coke capped the meal.

Actually, guilt capped the meal, and I know a total half-mile of walking did nothing to offset the gut bomb now processing in me belly.

No worries. Gut bombs are an essential part of any diet, as long as they're (roughly) about 1% of total carb/fat/cholesterol intake.
