This is it! This is love at first sight! "Wants" is overflowing from me right now. I'm willing to get it right away, sell the Miata and put the money I'll get left from the sale for a bit of restauration. The price is right and it's MANUAL! I ain't care that it's a FF, LOOK. AT. IT. AND. THE. POTENTIAL! I'm officially nuts!

Simple. If you love driving. Why buy an 30+ year old car that is dynamically uninvolved vs your simple, reliable Miata.

The cheapest one I found here (in France) is being sold for 10k €....

Well I realized, I drive on highways mostly. There's no exciting mountain roads, except Mont-Royal (which gets old pretty quickly) and Mont-Tremblant (I ain't gonna do a 1 hour trip to get there everytime I want to have fun). Most of the roads are broken as fuck in here and driving the little Miata here is no joy. On well paved road though, it's another story. I wont go racing anymore and I grew up from doing idiotic things with cars since the Miata kinda calmed me down. But as I said, I do highways mostly so it's better to get a cruiser then. Also I like to wrench a lot, the Miata is too reliable and doesn't need my attention much.

how much are you going to sell the Miata for? $17k?

SM's are not a cheap car to repair. And this one looks like it needs a back to metal respray and re-chroming of all the brightwork, god knows if the motor or suspension need any work.

I'm gonna see it first to see how bad it is. I know it's not cheap, but i'll try to do DIY stuff as much as possible. The bodywork can wait if not too much of an issue.

If you know just a little bit about what you're getting yourself into and you're not intending to do some kind of US engine swap, DO IT!

plenty of owners have stated that they are the smoothest ride of any car you can buy.

I think they're amazing.. but you did ask me to try and convince you not to.

just keep in mind that restoring it will be expensive, even DIY, many parts are going to be hard to source (at least cheaply), though from a quick look around there's a few specialists that make non-OEM replacement parts for the stuff that brakes most often.

It's a Maserati powered 1972 Citroën. What would go wrong ?

Clearly the solution is to buy it, sell the mechanical parts for big dollars to other SM owners, and then put the body on top of your Miata!

Restoring an SM scares me a little, but they're damn cool cars.

If you're prepared for what restoring one will take, and have another means of transportation while you're doing it, I say go for it.

Personally, I enjoy restoring cars. It doesn't need to be PCH if you bring the right attitude to it.

Yes, the suspension bits would be my biggest concern. If they're in good shape I'd say, go for it. And keep us updated on your resto. Good luck.

No issues, there. Some trucks of ours got hydraulic parts in them and I worked on them + I had a course about hydraulics at school. Right now, its parts that scares me. I gotta find the right contact.
