Now you've seen mine, let's see yours!
Our Keys are almost as important as the cars we drive. They say more about us as enthusiasts, hobbyists or dilettantes than we often realize. Some people feel the need to have a chain cluttered with accessories, old keys, and whatever else they can clip on there. Others are minimalists - they have a key, maybe a fob and that's all.
I land somewhere in the middle.
On my key chain you'll find:
One house key. One car key to a Ford Mustang and one key-fob for same (power locks etc). One faux piston; Ford Mustang. One emblem; a "K". And one tread-wear tester.
So what about you, Opponauts? It's been a while, and I think the last time around was just car keys. Let's see your chains. Whip 'em out!

I don't think I have ever seen this question on Oppo before.
My keychain is fairly simple. Key to the subaru, key for roof rack locks, key to ski box, kayak shaped bottle openeer, and a key FOB that has a broken connector and not actually connected to the keyring

Old photo but the keys haven't really changed (except maybe for some new scratches). The one on the left is the original, the one on the right is a modern MB key I had made. I also don't have them attached to anything to avoid noise while I'm driving. My housekey keychain is monstrously cluttered though.

I think that if my key and fob were one, I'd do the same but since I already need a hoop, I figure a few light things will be okay.
I don't like putting the weight on my ignition.

Left ring: Ford F350 key and remote, plus keys to trailer hitch locks and door padlocks
Center ring: rally car key and nonfunctional remote, "remove before flight" tag from Pratt & Whitney (my brother's workplace). Tag is specifically a promo item from the new PW1500G engines
Right ring: my main "car key ring". Keys to Dodge Caravan, Ford Ranger (sold, but it was my first car and I still have the locks), Ford Taurus (key with integrated remote), and Subaru Outback, plus remote for Outback. Also spare trailer keys.
Didn't include my ring for non-car keys because its basically just a jumble of metal and a nonfunctional mini mag-lite on a carabiner

Would I be wrong to assume you're a fairly typical Subaru owner?
If you know what I mean, you're probably offended but don't be. I was a fairly typical STi owner for a while and now I'm a pretty typical repeat Mustang owner.
I really mean that with all the best intentions. And it's the roof racks, the ski box and the kayak shaped bottle opener which lead me to think, "Yup. There's a Subaru guy."

I once got mugged in Hawai'i, and all I had was my wallet and a car key. It was one of the scariest times of my life. Since then, I've reevaluated my personal defense situation. This is one of them.
It makes my keychain pretty f'n heavy, but it doesn't wear out my ignition barrel since Saabs have that down on the center console ;)

Interesting question so I'll play along.
Obviously the fob/key, along with some keys to get into places & one personal item. Piloti is a driving shoe company so it seems fitting that its on my keys. Pretty minimal if you ask me.

Well probably not. Except for the part where a good deal of subaru people have racks and don't actually use them, that's kind of a lie it's mostly just a few. I snowboard, whitewater kayak, rock climb, getting in to mountain biking. Subaru's seem to fit the bill pretty well since I can only have one car and AWD, wagon, fun and fast. There are probably some other options but for now there isn't much I would trade it for.
Long answer short: I am a subaru guy

Key card stays in the wallet for keyless-go. Nothing but the front door and mailbox key with the car fob. After years of a cluttered key chain, I went with the minimalist approach. The back-up set looks the same for the most part. The only difference there is the lack of a gym membership card and the house key is shaped like a Desert Eagle.

You're the kind of Subaru Guy I hate, not because you're a liar. I could handle the lies, but because you're a legit, "I'm living life" kind of guy, the kind that makes me want to go, "You kids these days!" and then I realize I'm only 31...

Well I've only had 2 pairs & I've never had puma's. With that being said, I would easily recommend them. I've had the blue Avus's for 4 years and I only stopped wearing them because they straight up stink & I've had the tan Laguna's for just about 2 years and I wear them when I dress up. but neither has any real wear marks, they were made really well. I hope that continues when the company starts back up next month.

I've been meaning to order a newer style key for my CL . I like those sooo much better. Did you order it as a replacement or as a spare? I've heard that ordering a replacement is much more expensive because they have to reset the security on the vehicle itself to accept the new key, but if ordered as a spare, it ships with the same encoding as all of the originals.

When I bought the car I only got one key so I ordered a replacement for the one that got lost somewhere. I think it cost me somewhere around 200 euros. The newer key has a much better radio range than the old one (even after I replaced the batteries).
I'm actually glad that I had to order that key because that allowed me to discover that somebody had messed up all my car's papers (a typo in the VIN in all the initial registration documents). Luckily, I managed to sort all that out.

My mother has a Matrix, actually. It's not the XRS, however - so a little bit down on power comparatively and no AWD.
And as a former Yaris RS lessee, I looked at the Corolla XRS but the more powerful engine still wasn't enough for me, at least, not in a FWD platform which is why I ended up looking very seriously at the Toyobaru twins... and then ended up with a Mustang?!
I get the cargo space thing, though. That Matrix (my mom's is one of the first body style) always surprises me with how much stuff it can cram in. Having the fold-flat rear seats helps a lot.

Haha. That's how I ended up with my Mustang and not an FRS/BRZ - I found my car sitting, looking clean, with very low kilometers and an unbelievable price tag. After confirming the numbers and that the car had everything I wanted, I went in happily at about 1/3rd the price I was going to pay for the BRZ/FRS (which I still love, having driven etc). Yeah the power is pretty good for what it is. But it's loud and a little unwieldy at high revs (6200 - 8700 rpms or so). But it's not really fast. I think I can do 0-60 in about 6.3-6.5.
It holds SO MUCH STUFF. It's like an Escape inside. Thank god it's not actually an Escape. I remember when I bought it in '04, all my other harp friends where like... "where do you put the harp?!" I opened the tailgate and everyone was like, "whoa".
But it's still a huge pain in the ass - I have to load it in bottom first. It's not practical.

I like to look at Canadian Craigslist (Kijiji) and just see what kind of gems there are. It's surprising how there are still lots of Miatas that go for less than 5k here. Can't say the same for 240 wagons. I've also considered some other Volvos, but RWD, manual and reliable are my requirements for now.

BC, here. Capitol, none the less.
When I had my Fox, it was a different era and most of my peers were rocking FWD stereo-crammed hatches. I'd never had any interest in that and could drown out even the loudest of my school-mates stereos with my straight-piped 5.0L.
If I were sixteen today and looking at my first car, it'd probably be a Miata, an S2K or something in that range. Now, if my kid were sixteen and looking for a first car today I'd stick 'em in a Volvo 760/740 and feel safe in the knowledge that it's too slow to get into much trouble and tough enough to protect my kid in a crash.
Don't forget about the people who'll be sad if you wrap your lightweight roadster around a flower or young bush.

I looked at the Fit when the wife and I were living in Vancouver. We ended up leasing the Yaris instead and I really don't think there's much of a difference between them. The plus with small, city cars like that is you can get away with driving them at 10/10ths 100% of the time.

The only mechanical things done on the S10 were whatever wasrequired to keep it getting me from point A-B (oil changes, spark plugs, etc.). The amount of maintenance it's needed is surprisingly low considering how old it is; that Vortec keeps on truckin'.
We almost looked at the Yaris, but those haters at the car lot had them locked up (after hours, you know how it goes). I think that I must have a fetish for hatchback vehicles.

My student parking lot consists of mostly Japanese FWD fare, save for this pretty cool black VW Cabrio. I recall the coolest thing in the lot I recall was an E30.
I wasn't much a fan of the 700 series, but if it's the one manual RWD wagon option I have, so be it (I saw a manual 240 go for $800 though, don't know if it's been sold yet).
I think as a teenager driving a car, that would be inevitable. I'll just have to put faith in piloting a lightweight roadster/Swedish brick then.

Well any one who has had one for some time learns you car key is not the place to hang a bunch of crap off of since it cause issues, and if your a VW/audi person you just carry the key because of this. So yea that's my key ring lol. I do have a house key I carry with and leave some place special... my work keys don't count

I'll always have a soft spot for the true hot hatches, but sadly living in Canada means that we only get a few here and there. That said, I'll probably never own one again. I'm over front-wheel drive. It's nothing offensive, I just don't have any interest in owning another FWD car again outside of a few noteworthy exceptions (most of which are either classic, rare or were never sold in Canada).

What a rip off. I feel like you texted me, "Want a picture of my goods?"
And then you sourced an image of generic "goods" from the internet instead of showing me yours.
LOL
Seriously, that's an adorable key ring.

Ha!
I learned to drive on a manual, four speed, 1977 Volkswagen van. The clutch throw was longer than most peoples stride and the gears were so far apart and hard to find I had time to read a " Where's Waldo " book between shifts.
If there's one thing I believe, it's that sticking new drivers in shitty and tricky cars to begin, no matter how much they hate it, is the best way to build future Good-Drivers.

I'm with you.
I keep my chain free of clutter, not only because it feels natural to me, but because I don't want to put stress on my ignition. And like I said elsewhere in this thread; if my Key and my Fob were one in the same, I'd do that as well. But since my key and my fob are seperate entities and I'm already carrying around a key-chain, I figure there's no harm in dressing it up a little bit... which is why I have the piston, tread wear gauge and "K" (all of which are incredibly light).
