It's very simple. Sebring's a party. Daytona's a party. Le Mans' a party. The WEC's six-hour race in the Texas heat is not a party.

The bigger issue is that, living here, track management doesn't do shit to promote their races. Crappy billboards, crappy radio ads, all of which are poorly made, poorly targeted, and poorly marketed. It's piss poor promotion on COTA's part because they're horse-racing morons.

It doesn't help COTA that this race was run during football season, on top of the fact Texas (or Austin for that matter) isn't that big on motor sports in a country that already doesn't give two flying fucks about it. Looking back I really don't think Austin should have gotten COTA. Beside F1 (and maybe Moto GP), they just haven't gotten a ton of support for it. Maybe southern Cal would have better?
