2 drive wheels and 2 steer wheels. Yeah, I don't get the 2nd steer wheel either.

If one of the rear wheels didnt' steer, it would have to scrub sideways when the bike turns, which could be problematic.
I guess my question is this:
What problem does this solve?
How is a motorcycle with two wheels only, short on traction, or load carrying capability that it needs a tandem rear axle, like a truck or trailer?
