My advice? Bring us the Scirocco and don't water it down...(I like that car, and I'm not a VW fan. you listening VW?)

It's 90's and 00's Big 3 all over again. We were still continuing our trend of making bland cars while the Japanese and Europeans beat us on quality, design and/or excitement. VW quite literally admitted to doing the same thing, they were going to start making cheaper (shittier) cars to sell a higher volume. That certainly backfired. If you combine 8% industry growth with their 3% decline, they've technically fucked themselves by 11%+

Bringing the Scirocco won't help, it will just split people between the Golf GTI and the Scirocco. So they'll sell the same number of cars, or near enough but with two different cars to manufacture.
Automotive enthusiasts don't keep companies like VW in business, it's moms and dads who want reliable daily drivers, space in the trunk, enough seating for 5 'merican sized adults, and enough power to get on the freeway. The big 3 cater to this very well, VW not so much and the Scirocco won't help there.

I'd love to see the Scirocco here, but I don't make those decisions.
That being said, I'm not sure Scirocco is the answer to those sales numbers.

I really don't get VW. Their EU lineup has become as bland as its ever been, yet their US lineup is even worse. I guess VW forgot they have to offer something to distinguish themselves from the competition. Price, performance, styling, interior, durability, anything. I really can't think of a single reason why anyone picks a new VW over a competitor. I could in the past, but I can't now. In the US their only USP is the TDI lineup I imagine.

+1 this.
Before, I really like the Jetta. It looked somewhat upscale for its price, it looked cool, and well...unique. For what it was, it seemed very nice. I loved the GLI.
The new Jetta? It's a cheap, watered down, cost-cutting little turd.
The only VW I like now is the GTI.

Yep and I do find the the CC quite good looking. But mostly the TDI is off interest to me. But still the car around it is shitty now. It's like we are in an alternate dimension of what their previous generation models might have been.

Probably not...I just like the way it looks though.

that TDI engine is tits for what it can do... but why why why do they have to put it in the most anemic package ever? a CAMRY is more stylish!
