Courtesy of the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart...an absolute must see.
It is a 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300 Messwagen (measuring car). They would hook the cables coming out of the roof of the car to whatever car was in front that they were testing, and the data would be sent and stored in the back of the messwagen for later analysis.

Rather looks like the lovechild of a Grosser and a Skyliner. Odd, but I like it!
