I found a killer deal for my client on a 2012 Genesis R-spec. He was going to finalize the purchase this weekend. Come to find out, he purchased a Kia Sorento last night. His wife was pushing him into an SUV for some time, but we was trying to stay strong and get a nice sedan. He is happy with his purchase and I still got paid for my service, but part of me is a little sad he didn't get the Hyundai, probably because I was hoping he would let me take it for a spin. You know for "quality control" and all. ;)

While I don't do this in any sort of professional capacity, I know the feeling.
"I think you should look at [small sedan]."
"But what if I need to go off-road, or haul a boat!?"
"Have you ever done either of those things?"
"No, but maybe I will in the future!"
>_<

I can't really imagine someone would actually be happier with a Sorento than a Genesis.

He is happier because his wife is happier.

That Hyundai Genesis 5.0 R-spec is on my Reasonably Priced Dream Car List... and it's first on such list.
Why? Because Korean V8.

I also have a sad now...
I know rental cars are rental cars and all but I had to drive a Sorento last month and all I could do was complain to my boss the entire time he was trying to have a conference call. I'm not one to observe phone courtesy after he forced me to drive a potato.

The 5.0 R-Spec is such an underrated car and even with the killer deals it's like getting a Lexus GS for ES money. In fact, driving it reminded me of the W124 500E.

It's like getting a GS for CPO IS money.

Ok Automatch, sorry I have a question for you on a different note.
So I see that you look for vehicles for your "clients". Is this to lease or do they purchase them as well? I have a friend who leases a new car every two years or so and he has a guy who finds the cars he wants for him. I was wondering if there are people who actually search for the vehicle you want to purchase instead of lease?
Basically I want a Shelby Cobra (kit...for the monies...) but there aren't exactly any in my area or any in the style/make I want. Do you know how I could find someone who knows the ins and outs of finding a vehicle like this? All I have is Autotrader and EBay Motors at the moment. If I lived in Florida, all of this would be a lot easier since most of the fancy makes seem to be sold in Florida.
Anyways I was just curious since I might be getting close to moving on this purchase in the next year or two...

My customers are both lease, new purchase, and pre-owned purchase buyers. Really where my services come into play is not with the location aspect, because that is relatively easy but the negotiation with the dealers. As far as your Cobra kit car, I really don't have access to any more search tools than you do.

Everytime I hear these "My wife said no" kind of stories I always think this is something out of a movie. I know marriage is about making sacrifices but seriously? Unless she's the one paying for it she has like 10% say, also one's wife should understand why her husband wants a particular vehicle.
I'm not married but I don't think I'd ever be married to a woman who has the nerve to tell me what I can and cannot buy with my own money. "Wanted to buy a new TV but the wife said no" -___- what.
That'd be like my wife saying she's going to go buy some purse/outfit/etc and I said "No you can't have that" too controlling man.

Ok well that's good to know. I don't know much about this side of the car purchasing world, but it will help down the line.
Cheers

There are tons of places to find kit Cobras for sale besides AutoTrader & eBay Motors...
Here's what comes to mind:
-
Hemmings is usually one of the first places I go to look for classic cars
-
Cobra Country is one of the oldest online market places for Cobras
-
ERA Registry
sometimes has nice ones for sale (not often)
-
SAAC's For Sale
section has lots of Cobras
-
BDP
almost always has a nice selection for sale at any given time - they build them for Kirkham & Shelby, so these might be a but pricey
-
DuPont Registry
is also another place that never seems to run out of them
Then you have forums like:
-
Club Cobra
-
Factory Five's Forums
Their Classifieds are usually filled with all the cars you'd like - Club Cobra will have more variety, of course.
You could also call up the manufacturers themselves (ERA, Factory Five, West Coast... etc), and ask them if they know any pre-owned cars for sale.
Not sure how far your research has gone, but I've been looking at those for years and a good one is usually around $40-50K.
Make sure you put some pics on Oppo once you get it :)

Thanks for the other sites. I look through DuPont registry every now and then, but never thought about the others.
Yeah, I am expecting to pay around $50K for one. Plans in my life are changing a bit, saving up for grad school, so it will probably be another 2 years at least... :(
Worth the wait though!
