The Motoring Party's Ricky Muir, who has previously starred in a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , has edged out Liberal senate whip Helen Kroger for the sixth and final position.

This is why we need to get rid of the "first past the post" (FPTP) voting system in the US in favor of a "single transferrable vote" (STV) system, as Australia has.
Here, 10% of
every
state could vote for Motoring Party legislative candidates and
none
of them would be elected. With the STV system, 10% of the legislature would be given to Motoring Party candidates. The FPTP system indisputably, inevitably creates a two-party system, destroying any meaningful diversity of viewpoints. Why do we have the FPTP system? Because it was easier to count that way 200 years ago.
Imagine a US government with more than 2 parties. If that were the case, it probably wouldn't be shut down right now.

It's not all sunshine and rainbows (and killer animals). Some of the preferences can get extremely complicated, and whilst you think you're voting for your motoring rights, your vote can often influence other parties that you greatly oppose.
The AMEP claims they're going to evenly split their preferences, but they've been rumoured to be supporting some verrrry right wing parties (think of an Aussie Tea Party).
