Okay. I'm one to test the limits with political correctness (see my post on the white wednesday theme suggestion post earlier this week), but that title is not okay.

I wonder how much you could get for those wheels/tires and the sounds system? I could see $60 large on this if I could get back $10,000. Also, the N word? seriously?

Might want to edit that. Even if joking, it doesn't go over well here.

This is a joke headline right? To test our tolerance of your racism? Because we won't. Get lost.

I'm sorry, you're far to vague, perhaps if you could clarify what it is you meant to say?

Hard to tell. Most of the rest of the world considers it a relatively mildly offensive term unless obviously used with the intention to be racist or directed right at someone. It's only in the US where it's considered more offensive than 'cunt', let alone 'fuck', even to use it in passing.
The usage here might be completely non-racist. Presumably what was meant was a reference to gangsta-ifying the car, or whatever you call it. Well, gangsta rap refers to 'niggas' all the time, and if you don't see any difference between yourself and a rapper simply because he has darker skin, then why shouldn't you use the word?
That sounds like devil's advocate, but I've been in parts of the world where they really do think that way. In much of the Caribbean, for example, 'nigger' is still a derogatory term, but has nothing to do with skin colour.

The term's usage in this context was painfully obvious. I don't want that hateful shit on this blog.

Well done for your knee-jerk reaction to my post. Clearly you didn't bother to read it. My point was that much of the world doesn't use the word as a term of 'hatred'. It's pretty much only the US does that, and even lots of people there don't.
It's not a good word to use on an international site, but you can't pretend to know what someone meant by it.

I read your whole post.
The specific term OP used does not have any additional meanings or uses depending on what culture it's used in. It's a very specific term and could have only meant one thing. IF somehow OP didn't realize the negative connotations that term has they should not have used it. For the record OP didn't use the terms you discussed in your post, either.

"The specific term OP used does not have any additional meanings or uses depending on what culture it's used in. It's a very specific term and could have only meant one thing."
You're wrong. The rest of the world is not all like your small part of it, and the word we're talking about is used to mean lots of different things - including the nasty racist meaning you're claiming is the only one. Even in your country, rappers are allowed to use the word. Are they all horrible racists, or is it in fact plain that people can mean more than one thing by it?

Do you even know what word OP used? If you did you would understand this is not a language barrier issue and that the term "niggerify" has only one meaning. It's not a term you would find in use in the Caribbean or in Europe unless it's being used with a hateful connotation. It has a very specific intended purpose and that cannot be argued. It's part of the rules of Oppositelock; don't like 'em? Go to another blog.

Yes, that's the word I was referring to. And no, you're just wrong. People do not all mean what you claim they must mean. Like I said, in the Caribbean, for example, it's not racist because it has nothing whatsoever to do with skin colour. You're just as likely to get accused of 'niggering' or 'niggerifying' whether your skin is light or dark.
To reiterate, it is only in the US where the word is completely taboo. Elsewhere, the meaning has evolved or been reclaimed from the racists. I think it's daft or very naive to use it in an international context and not expect it to stir up a shit-storm, but people can be daft or naive without being racist.
" It's part of the rules of Oppositelock; don't like 'em? Go to another blog."
I didn't take issue with that, I took issue with you ascribing racist motives to the person who used the term.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion as am I. Enjoy explaining your position to someone who takes great offense at the word.

And you enjoy the reaction when you call some non-racist person racist to their face, instead of being an internet warrior. Has it not occurred to you that you're merely indulging in prejudice of a different kind?

" ...it is only in the US where the word is completely taboo."
That's not true. I can confirm that it's just as taboo in British Columbia & Alberta. However, the OP is from Saguenay, Quebec. Perhaps it is more acceptable with people he interacts with in his community. Nevertheless, I'd have a hard time believing that he wouldn't have thought that it is offensive elsewhere an unacceptable here.

I wasn't consciously aware the taboo had spread, although actually I suspect it now pervades Westminster as well, now you mention it.
" Nevertheless, I'd have a hard time believing that he wouldn't have thought that it is offensive elsewhere an unacceptable here."
I'd put the chances at 9/10 trolling, 1/10 silly-but-innocent use. 0/10 chance the commenter is actually racist.
