And damn that shit is tough to put together & tedious. THis is the dune buggy section of the instructions. My wife and I just got done with this and it wasn’t without some cursing.
You really have to use some imagination to see what you build. It’s like k’nex is Atari.
Truthfully I would have done better without helping my wife.

K’nex are pretty cool. The better sets are more like SNES. I remember building this bulldozer when I was little.

Oh man I love those things. I had the rubber band racer set, among others, and built a truck with full working independent suspension when I was a kid. Looking back it was probably easy for my parents to guess what I was going to be!

I’m all about the legos with my boys. My five year old has been building by himself for the past couple years. I like that he can do them himself and occupy himself for some time. I haven’t tried k-nex, and after your comments, I won’t bother. We have tried meccano, and those were tough too, a little much for a 5 yo.

When I was a kid, my brother and I would build our own wheeled K’nex vehicles and see which one could survive a run down the staircase.
Our parents hated that game.

I think I started with K’nex when I was about 8 or so. That’s about the age I started with Lego Tecnic too. I think 8-10 is a good range for those two.
