Exessive? Which party? Good rule is do what the cop says. They are gonna cuff you eventually in a situation like this. It can be straightened out later. Even better when you are polite and follow directions... This jerk perp was acting like an id10t.

When the cops try to cuff ya, don’t thrash. Yer gonna get ‘subdued’ and it will hurt. They don’t have time or patience to fool around. Though they are getting paid to get hit, they don’t like it; the less the better.

I thought Copper Number 1 showed admirable restraint.

They should’ve gotten the passengers out after about thirty seconds then zapped him and let him ride the lightning.

I once had a cop ask me to get out of my car on the side of the I10. I was going 78 in a 75 so I had no idea what his deal was. I had a girlfriend in high school that worked at a nutrition store which sold anabolic steroids to quite a police officers, so I new not to test the delicate psyches of one of these maniacs. Plus I had Glock 36 in my center console. Roid rage and badges are a bad mix. Guy gave me a written warning for going 3 over on an interstate at 11pm...

Two things: choose your battles and know your limitations.

I’d be like, “You bet!” and keep my hands right where he could see ‘em.

I disagree with how the officer approached the driver.

He initially asks the driver to step out of the vehicle with no reason as to why.

Then, when asked, “What for?,” by the driver, his response is, in my opinion, a disrespectfully toned, “Uh, get out. Because I said so.”

The way I see it, this could have been handled better with a focus on not escalating the situation in the officer’s tone of voice and choice of words.

However, everything the driver does afterwards just sends it all downhill.

I’d say the driver sends it downhill from the word “Go.” The cop may not be the brightest bulb, but he shows lots of restraint. They should have taken the passengers out after thirty seconds and then tazed the punk about two minutes later.

When he said “Go” I cringed.

Yeah, he made me walk backwards along the I10 at night. I have friends with PTSD who are now cops, so I was just hoping he wasn’t losing it.

I’m pretty sure that guy’s pulled me over. I was just speeding and wasn’t being a shithead about anything, but he still made me get out of the car and stand off the side while he wrote me a ticket. It was the middle of february.
