If you theoretically had to choose between the two, which would you choose?

Purchasing money isn’t a factor in the choice, but maintenance money is. I think they get about the same MPGs on the highway.

Ranger is regular cab, Ram has a 2nd row of seats. Both are 5 speeds.

Also I own the Ranger now. It has 175,000 miles. Ram has 88,000 miles and needs new tires.

Both are white if that has anything to do with it.

Ram belonged to my grandfather.

Buy the Ram. A manual Cummins will last forever, especially with those miles. Do you know if it’s a 12V or 24V?

Ram all day long. Especially if the truck itself is in OK shape.

Garage kept it’s entire life.

Never really looked too closely at it. Both are good from what I understand though.

Oh yeah, they are. Just the 12V is a million mile engine and more, the 24V is just a million miler.

The 2500, all day long. Not only does the Dodge potentially have a lifespan of from now on, you can do so much more with it down the road. A 2500 will tow a sizeable boat or a racecar to the track.

Only thing about it that really scares me is that it has the original ties on it. 20 years old with 88k miles. And they still appear fine to the naked eye. I know they’re not safe and should be replaced immediately, but just shows what keeping cars in garages and going easy on them can do.

If I get it I plan on using it for the race trailer for my solar car team. Right now we pay per mile to use a university f-250.

Ranger. I’ve got two, an 01 and an 02, both white, manual and both driven 30-100 a day for the past.... Oh, three years or so? Work trucks, so they get beat on, and I’ve taught seven people how to drive stick with ‘em. One is at 120k, the other is 170k, and neither has had any major faults. Fair number of little things (fan only works at full speed, wipers will turn on randomly, stereo occasionally turns itself up to full volume, etc.) but everything has been fairly easy to track down and fix cheaply. And most importantly, they’re such a great size.

I have nothing to say about the Ram, as the only one I’ve ever driven was the V10 converted into a welding truck (v12? No... V10, right?) which was a blast.... But the first two gears were unusable

I love mine. I’ve had it for two years now. Perfect size for what I do that requires a truck, which is moving to and from school twice a year, and I’m an industrial design student with a concentration in furniture design so I’m always driving materials or pieces around.

The Ram is just an option offered to me through my grandfather’s estate and seems like a nice upgrade. More seats, more space, and capable of pretty good mpg for a truck of it’s size. Also legendary reliability.

I’m worried I’d miss the Ranger though. It’s been so good to me.

Your fan is working at full speed because you need to install a new one of whatever this is.

Same thing happened to my dad’s. It worked perfectly after we replaced it.

The dodge. A Cummins manual will have higher resale value, last longer, it’s got more towing capacity, and more performance options(im guessing, but I’ve never heard of rangers that break the tires loose on the highway)

I really don’t need a 2500. It’s treating me well now. It’s just the option of larger nicer truck for not too much money.

As much as I love BMWs, I’m a huge Ranger fan.

Gib Vulcan V6 pls.

Ram. You can’t beat that Cummins and manual combo.

That body style of Ram looks amazing and a sub-100,000 mile Cummins/5-speed combo is both reliable and worth a pretty penny. I’d take the Ram in a second.

The real cons of this trade are I loose my beloved Ranger, and I replace it with more truck than I need.

Pros are that I get more seats, less miles, and the ability to pull trailers. And reliability. And I get to hold onto a part of my grandfather.

I’m not going to flip it, but when I do eventually sell it, how ever many more miles that may be I’ll still get quite a bit for it. I think I’m set on going for it.

How have you been? I’ve been out of Oppo for a while.
