I feel like shit because I’ve caught whatever is going around. But I’ve got a daiquiri my dad made me. And here’s the thing. It’s not the drink that’s important as much as the glass it’s in. From my earliest youth I remember these specific glasses that my parents made daiquiris in. I remember being little and wanting to use them, but wasn’t allowed.
And now here I am some 40-something years later, and my dad hands me a daiquiri in those very same glasses. Tastes pretty damn good.

It’s from a brewery known for its hardcore hop-forward beers. They do can releases once a week, and lines usually form hours in advance. I spent some of my Christmas money on a trip there, bought enough to last me until February. Made a couple of the staff members (translation: cute girls who weren’t wearing rings) laugh.

I’m still a little sick, but I’m going to crack open my new bottle of Balvenie and have a couple slugs of it.
I stopped by a big liquor store to see if there was any of my favorite seasonal beer (Great Divide Hoss) but no dice. I did pick up a six of their Hibernation Ale, which is an English style old ale according to the can. Might have one after the scotch.

it’s tough stuff watching her struggle sometimes...she’s done most of what’s available with no luck (5 years in). Latest was some sort of 5 hour transfusion. If this doesn’t work it’s off to John’s Hopkins to poked, prodded and experimented on.

Don’t I know it. You find stuff that works, but that only lasts so long before the body gets used to it. Then it’s on to trying something else to hope to stay ahead of it. It’s taken a hell of a toll over the last 20 years.

yeah, it’s hard to see her struggle, but she takes it in stride and doesn’t let it stop her from living life. They had her on this chemo treatment for a while that only made her sick a few days a week and didn’t change her markers at all.
She’s tougher than me...I just have regular old arthritis and I’m a wimp by comparison. Have a Happy New Year!
