Ok Mitsubishi, you make cool stuff and want a presence in the USA? So bring us the Delica. When I see a Delica in Japan I want one so badly and this Outlander they showed in Tokyo could be pretty cool. They don’t even sell the Delica in Canada??

There are a shit-ton of JDM ones roaming the streets of BC and (used) parts are widely available, if not expensive.

Older Delicas are very popular imports in the mountainous bits of Canada (mostly western Alberta and BC). Makes sense. It’s pretty much the ultimate camping car. I want one badly.

Yeah I’ve seen some from Canada and the US imported. But they are all old. When I’m in Japan I see some great new ones, from soccer mom versions to lifted diesel offroaders.

Yeah I see them here too, I just don’t get why Mitsubishi won’t sell the best thing they make.

Because Mitsubishi is dumb and Mitsubishi buyers only want boring cars apparently. Also crash regulations and emissions regulations, probably. But mostly the first part.

They are mainly diesel so there it that emissions issue, the new ones are probably very safe, I don’t think Japan is far off of our regulations.

I don’t understand why they won’t sell the new Delica here. They must know how popular they are once they’re importable, some parts of Vancouver it’s like you need an L300 or L400 just to live there.

The third and fourth gen Delicas were sold officially in the UK and Europe, under the Space Gear moniker. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a few imported new Delicas too. Still, an older model is worth it for having the following conversation alone:

“What do you drive?”

‘I drive a Mitsubishi Space Gear .’

So...I’m officially getting into the import business. Any thoughts on interesting JDM shit you’d like to see stateside? I tried to bid on a 35k mile President tonight but was too late unfortunately

I lust for a dark blue Century and a Delica with sweet graphics, a diesel and upper space windows. There are so many niches within Japanese cars, Paos/Figaro, Soarers, GTRs, Delicas, Land Cruisers.... I like them all

A Century is definitely coming in the future, a Delica hopefully but the PNW market is already saturated with them. I’d love to bring in a Pao that’s not just the standard mint green. Maybe some of the old school bigass Nissan vans like the Homy
