would be a 100-series LX, IS-F, LS460, and GS350 F-sport. Of course my wife loved the loaner RX, but... Man I do NOT like crossovers (but her next car will totally be a crossover).

Part of me wonders if that real guy is you. No part of me believes that the fintail is your primary means of transportation. Not that it couldn’t be, but you appreciate it too much to subject it to the dredges of I-90, 405, and I-5 on a regular basis. I suspect you therefore possess a “daily” that of an extreme example. An M car. A GS- or IS-F. Maybe a Golf R. *squints* Maybe... maybe a custom-ordered V90. But that could be far too new for you, due to your apparent disdain for new things in shiny packages that are made of cardboard and plastic. So used luxury vehicle - IS-F or V10 M5? - would be what I’d put serious cash down on.

Well we have 2 types of RX, a GS350, I’ll own an ISF, we have a FJ40, and then a Seqioah and a Tundra. We can give you the full experience in Tennessee

If it’s a high-miles 2008 example, it might be $25 grand. But if it’s a 2011+ with low miles, I’ve seen many still push 50.

Nope, not me, although I wish I had the IS-F guy’s money - that car is his toy, and only comes out to play on nice days.
The fintail was my DD when I was a student (and didn’t need to drive daily), but it has been in Sunday driver status for over 15 years now. It gets to zoom down 405 and 167 now and then, but only sees 5 about once a year. I generally keep it out of the rain. I live in a building with one spot per unit, and have to rent a garage for the old car - worth it to keep it dry, as those cars can rust. Garage rent is by far the greatest expense for the car, as it is generally very reliable.
If I was to choose a Lexus, I might pick a LS of a few types/generations, but most others kind of leave me cold. Of course, a mint first gen SC is a cool car too. I don’t warm up to most BMWs either (although I like the 6er Gran Coupe and some vintage models), and I worry about how they age.
You’re on the right track in a way. I’m a MB fanboy,and have some brand loyalty. I had a W210 E55 AMG for 7 years, and a W202 C43 AMG before that, but now have a W212 E250 Bluetec, probably the most traditional of later model MBs, and a lot less maintenance worry than the AMGs, which weren’t awful, but still had high running costs. The modern car has been absolutely solid, and is a joy on road trips. It’s kind of a shiny package, but at the same time, kind of a grandpa car - I am a youngster compared to many who drive those. I don’t mind that, the roads and traffic here aren’t suited for sport, and I felt like the AMGs were wasting away on the daily drive. The car is also something I can drive in any weather and not feel bad. I sometimes wish it was a luxury trim car and a lighter color, but when you find a deal and aren’t making a custom new build, you take the best you can get - it’s an uncommon combo and options, might be a long term keeper.
