Kinja'd!!!

It has NOT held up well. I didn’t get a glimpse of the odometer but the wear I observed was consistent with a 20+ year old car.

In the lead image please note: missing knob, buttons worn down to yellow plastic, soft touch coating worn off around bottom of touchscreen, TPMS light.

And this is just what I could see from my seat!

I get that livery cars see much more wear and tear than normal cars but this was just appalling. The ride was also jiggly and loud and the rear seats didn’t have enough padding.

I’ve ridden in a Tahoe of this gen and the Escalade is no more comfortable or refined. It rode just the same and the materials felt the same. This model was clearly just a no-effort cash grab to capitalize on the success of the previous Escalade. All style and no substance.

1/10 hecking bad buy

The 900 is shit, it was a downgrade from the 800.

But that’s just it though, livery use seems to have taken a large toll on it. I’ve experienced 900s recently and they’ve held up relatively well.

However, there was a huge quality upgrade on the interiors in the 2012 model year, I believe. So this might be one of the older models (certainly appears that way, judging by the DVD-based navigation system which was replaced with a satellite-based unit in 2012).

To be fair, it has probably seen the same action as many 20 year old cars.

That, and these are the mcmansions of the car world. Bigger than most need, cheaply built, not cheaply priced.

Care is half of it. The ‘parent car of choice’ car for a lot of the kids I grew up with seemed to be the 1st gen Acura MDX. A few friends I’m still in touch with still have them in the family, my dad took pristine care of his and it still feels new. Some families took less or much less care, and it really shows. Being Honda products they took the abuse better than this Escalade did, but it still really shows even with the exact same age, mileage and useages.

No one getting in or driving a fleet vehicle all day and every day give a shit so it shows.

It’s striking just how long gm kept that interior going.

The new interiors are much better, but without badges a chevy interior is indistinguishable from a buick or cadillac (ignoring CUE), much like before.

At least the front interior door handles are in a somewhat rational place now on the trucks and full-size SUVs.
