So I had an idea at midnight which is both the best and worst. Best because there’s nothing else to do while falling asleep, worst because you can’t fall asleep.

Is there room for more automotive content? It would be a mix of high quality car reviews, updates on personal cars, low quality DIY projects, some gun content, some BBQ contest content, and basically whatever else I feel like could use. Hopefully I can pull some cars from the Lane, film at C&C, film road trips, and pull cars from friends(everything from a 4cyl Camry to whatever I can get). Since I’ll be doing everything I’m thinking of basically naming videos “Jacob Drives a ____”, “Jacob Shoots a___” etc.

I would have at least one or two other guys working with me. One will also produce content, and the other has a bunch of cameras and editing equipment to make it decent. Is there anything else we should add to make it stand out? Would you all watch?

I guess the key word I should have added is “good” automotive content

When asking this question the answer is always - make it and see what happens.

Yes, as long as it manages to be good quality, entertaining and informative, and unique.

There is a lot of “I bought a GoPro and Now I’m Gonna Do Amateur Top Gear... POWAHHHH” content out there already. Don’t be like that. Do something different.

Psshhh we have a gimbell available. Already ahead. I think the trick is we’re going to do reviews of basic cars and weird cars as well as informative videos. I think they’ll be more like that guy in Blue then matt Farah

This is one of those things that you just have to throw darts and hope it sticks to something. Two different people can use the exact same concept and one can get big while the other busts. Just try and see.

Yes, provided that it is both good and you offer something that other outlets do not. :)

The problem with Matt Farrah is that he managed to take reviewing a bunch of awesome and unique cars, and transform it into a completely cookie-cutter product. All of his one-takes followed the same format on the same road.

The key is to do something different that will attract viewers to your brand. Then build up a yuuuuuuuge viewer base. Then sell out with product placement and ads and manufacturer-bought positive reviews.

It would be interesting to hear some stuff about making driving enjoyable in such a rapidly-expanding and often traffic-plagued city, like finding good roads or doing sort of narrated cinematic-type things about that (See: Gears and Gasoline). The Lane could make for some very interesting content, like a deeper dive into the history of some obscure vehicles that the plaque next to it or a basement tour guide doesn’t have time to give you. There’s also a lot you could explore with just how much it takes to keep a huge fleet of weird, rare cars running.
